Forever Changed

A drabble (100-word story)

Photograph by Jennifer Toole from dailytoole (Permission granted by Photographer)

She could no longer hold back time. Time was elusive. A wicked taskmaster. Change was inevitable.

She sighed as she glanced down upon the people of Greece. If only they knew. If only they understood. Her job was not as easy as her two sisters believed. Just a simple snip, they would say. Her sisters, with their spindle and measuring rod, only dealt with life. They knew nothing about death. Nothing about the horror of a battlefield. Or the cries of those left behind. Devastated.

Atropos held her abhorred shears in her hand and cut the thread. Lives forever changed.
