There are some of my college friends that I’ve kept up with. I saw them for decades after graduation, because they lived in the same town as my parents.

There are others that moved in the same circles as me. I’d see them at science fiction conventions. Or stop for a visit when I traveled to their city.

But there are others that I never saw. We traded Christmas cards, and intellectually I knew they were parents, then grandparents. But in my mind, they looked as they had when I’d last seen them.
