Summer Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Shine!”

Go woodland walking; feel worries fade

This photograph captures my summer season “Shine!”, combining three loves in one.

It’s the result of walking, exploring woodlands and photography.

Many outdoor photographers consider summer to be the least enjoyable season. Morning sunrises too early, sunsets too late, daytime light too harsh and summer temperatures for distance walking and scouting for shots too taxing.

But for me, it’s almost¹ the opposite.

Woodland photography is my favourite genre and in the summer, when the sun is high, I look for scenes where hard light breaks through the canopy and contrasts with woodland shadows. And the best thing is, while walking in woodlands in the summer, I can scout for shots and enjoy the cool of nature’s shade.

  1. I say almost as, on balance, my favourite season is autumn, if only because of the variety of woodland colours.
