Congratulations if you’re an entrepreneur and have had your first taste of fame! That’s a moment that most people only dream about, and yet it can be incredibly bittersweet. The opportunities are endless now, but they’re not. They’re fewer than they were before you made it big. And all those people who told you how great this would be? Well, they were right and wrong at the same time.
The first taste of fame is bitter. It’s a painful experience, and you feel like you must be doing something wrong. You’re tempted to give up on your dream and return to the life that worked before, where people tell you how great you are but don’t buy your product or service.
But if you can get past the initial sting of rejection, there is something magical about this moment. It will open doors previously closed for you. You’ll learn what works in marketing, sales, and customer service from talking with customers who have purchased from other companies that provide similar products or services as yours but not as well. And once those doors begin to open for real.
You feel like you must be doing something wrong.

I know this because I’ve been there myself, and many other entrepreneurs have gone on to achieve great success as public figures or thought leaders in their field, including Seth Godin, Tim Ferriss, and Ramit Sethi.
You’re tempted to give up on your dream.
After the taste of fame, you’ll feel like giving up on your dream. You might think you need to be better, and no one will ever notice your work. You may even want to quit altogether because the pressure is too much for you to handle.
But don’t worry. This is normal. It’s happened to all successful entrepreneurs at some point in their careers, even Elon Musk. The only way out of this feeling is through it, so keep going until those feelings pass and continue until they return.
But you don’t quit.
You keep going. You don’t give up on your dream. You keep working hard, improving, and growing as an entrepreneur and business owner. And even though you may be successful, there will always be more to learn and do, and that’s a good thing.

If you’ve ever tasted fame, then you know that it’s bitter. You taste the sweetness of success and immediately realize that it won’t last forever. You have to keep working hard even when you’re successful. Otherwise, the next bite will be much sweeter than this one.

They want fame without having the work and the lows that come with it.
You can’t just buy your way to fame. Fame only happens after a while and is certainly challenging to achieve. You have to be willing to do what it takes to succeed. There are no shortcuts or quick fixes in life. If there were, everyone would be famous.
The reason why so many people want fame without having the work and lows that come with it is that they think if they become famous, everything will be handed over on a silver platter, the money, the women or men, etc., but this couldn’t be further from reality.

They believe that once they reach their goals and make it big, everything will be great forever. But that’s not true.

Getting caught up in the moment is easy, especially when starting. You will be working hard and sacrificing a lot of time and energy for your business, so you must be confident in your success.
If you want to stay on top of your game, keep striving for more success, and always remember that fame is fleeting.
You have to keep working hard even when you’re successful, or else you’ll slip back into obscurity just as quickly as you rose out of it.

They think everything will be smooth sailing from here on out because they’ve been working hard and doing well. They feel they deserve to be famous because they’ve earned it through hard work and dedication.
But the truth is this, if you don’t keep working hard even when you’re successful, or else you’ll slip back into obscurity just as quickly as you rose out of it. Don’t take success for granted. Don’t get complacent. Keep pushing yourself toward bigger goals rather than resting on your laurels or whatever financial security blanket may exist. Don’t let success go to your head. Keep humble and stay grounded in reality by remembering where exactly all those achievements came from in the first place. And lastly, and most importantly, keep success from going straight into YOUR wallet. Stay vigilant about keeping costs down so that all revenue goes back into growing or expanding operations further instead of padding someone else’s pockets at someone else’s expense which brings us back full circle.
Success is temporary; no matter how often you’ve been on top, nothing is guaranteed in business or life.

The only thing that matters is whether or not you’re achieving your goals and expectations for yourself, not what other people think of you or your company. If a company has a lot of money but isn’t making any progress towards its goal (e.g., “We want to be the biggest eCommerce site in North America by 2030”), then they aren’t successful at all.
If you think about it, the initial taste of fame is much like that first bite of food. You know what it will taste like when you take it. That expectation usually makes you nervous. But sometimes it turns out better than expected, while other times it can be disappointing. Whether or not you enjoyed the experience depends on how much effort went into making sure you got what was promised in the first place.
