“Empathy is the ability to recognize, understand, and share the thoughts and feelings of another person, animal, or fictional character. Developing empathy is crucial for establishing relationships and behaving compassionately. It involves experiencing another person’s point of view, rather than just one’s own, and enables prosocial or helping behaviors that come from within, rather than being forced.” — Psychology Today
The message from the video taught me that having empathy and showing compassion are the heartbeat of humanity. Witnessing that level of empathy, awakened something inside my soul. Performing acts of kindness can remove mountains and break the chains in someone’s life. It is in our nature as humans to want to help each other out. Humanity still has a beating heart, and it is up to us to keep fueling it with kindness.
These acts of kindness Keeps humanity thriving My soul awakened.

I recently made a donation to Drexell and Honeybee’s (shown in the video above) located in Brewton, Alabama. It is a donation only restaurant that serves its community by providing daily meals to its residence. There is no obligation from the diners to pay for their meals. If they do not have the money to pay, they will still receive a meal. If you would like to read more about the restaurant, you can do so here: Bitter Southerner

The owners, Lisa and Freddie Thomas-McMillan, have dedicated their lives to serving their community. The selflessness that they exhibit humbles my soul and drives me to aim to do better.
“Happiness is fleeting; joy is something down in your soul. The more you do, the more you’re able to do, and the richer you become.” — Lisa Thomas-McMillan
Lisa’s business model for the restaurant is based on love and compassion for others. She refuses to create a standard restaurant model. She doesn’t want someone to miss a meal because they can’t afford to pay for it. Therefore, there are no prices and no menu at Drexell and Honeybees.
She is so dedicated to her mission that at 52; she walked to Washington D.C. to spread awareness for her mission to feed the hungry. We need more local heroes and foot soldiers for humanity, like Lisa and Freddie, to keep our communities thriving and strong.
