Food For Thought

‘Food for thought’ used to be a regular saying when I was growing up. It means finding something which gives you pause and makes you think. Medium offers me this sort of experience.
I adore metaphors. Finding more meaning than is on the surface seems to be the key to life.
We need to look deeper to find answers.
And so too with food.
Something I used to cook for my young family of five children a great deal was tomato sauce. The good thing about this sauce was that it was additive free and it tasted delicious.
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
Tomato puree
Fresh tomatoes
1 clove of Garlic
1 Onion
Olive oil
Fresh herbs
1 stock cube
Method
Chop the onion and add to the olive oil. Warm gently and add the herbs.
Stir in half a tube of puree and the tomatoes.
Simmer for 20 minutes.
Pour over the pasta.
Serve hot.
Delicious.
I also made spinach pasta . You can put this into pancakes as well for an alternative dish.
Alternative recipe:
Ingredients
Fresh or frozen spinach
Garlic
Milk
1 spoon of stock
Method
Cook the spinach in a little
milk
Add the stock and a little water.
Pour over the pasta.
Eat hot.
Writing about this is making my mouth water. I must cook something and take a photograph for you next time.
