Summary

The author offers to engage in a mutual following and reading relationship on Medium to support the community and potentially increase earnings, despite current geographical restrictions preventing them from benefiting from the Medium Partnership Programme.

Abstract

The author, an educator and writer from Nigeria, expresses a genuine interest in reading and supporting other writers on Medium by following them, reading their articles, and engaging with their content. They outline several reasons for this initiative, including personal enjoyment, learning, and the belief in the importance of community support. Although the author is not currently eligible for the Medium Partnership Programme due to living in Nigeria, they see the value in building a dedicated audience for future potential earnings and as a form of retirement incentive. The author emphasizes the importance of having an engaged audience that reads and interacts with the content, rather than just accumulating followers for the sake of numbers. They invite Medium writers, especially those in the Partnership Programme, to establish a reciprocal relationship where both parties follow and read each other's work, thereby creating a more meaningful and supportive Medium community.

Follow Me And Boost Your Earnings

I’ll follow you back, read your articles and boost your algorithm

These are the reasons why I will read your article

  1. I enjoy reading. I’m an educator with a broad spectrum of interests.
  2. I believe every write-up has some content I can learn.
  3. I appreciate style and creativity.
  4. Support is key to growing the Medium community.
  5. I want to read and comment so I can put a smile on someone else’s face.
  6. I’m counting on you to reciprocate. You can help me in my writing journey too.

I’m not soliciting your patronage for any immediate benefit of mine because the Medium Partnership Programme is off-limits to me. For now, having 100 followers won’t take me to the bank.

I live in Nigeria, and therefore, based on geographical restrictions, I’m ineligible.

So, maybe that’s why I’ve never really stepped on the throttle in the follow-for-follow campaign. But, it might have its dividends in the future, so I relish a headstart. Since writing is my passion, sailing the Atlantic to MPP territory will provide a good retirement incentive. Who knows what’s in store. Possibly a 6 or 7 figure earning. Therefore, building an enthusiastic audience irrespective seems like a smart move. Moreover, it is eradicating projected hassle-time.

But for you buzzing bees in the MPP, followers and the algorithm means everything to you. Once you hit the 100, you can begin to dream of an income stream. But remember, you only earn on reading time and nothing else. So claps, followers and comments can give you goosebumps and thrills, but they won’t line your pockets.

What use is a following that’s not read sensitive? I consider it shady to clap for me without reading my article. There’s no need for the guile, it’s an ulterior motive, and I’ll leave it at that.

A following-reading community is a rainbow that beautifies the horizon. Medium needs a read-following and not follow-for-follow sake.

Suffice it to say, take a chance on me now. Let’s build a follow-for-follow and read-for-read relationship.
