Summary

The website content describes a photography challenge focused on capturing the essence of foggy landscapes, inspired by the moody fog photos of "pockett dessert."

Abstract

The author of the website content, presumably named Dennett, has been inspired by a fellow photographer known as "pockett dessert" to initiate a photography challenge centered around foggy scenes. This challenge invites participants to submit up to 10 of their own spooky and mystical foggy photos, accompanied by narrative or poetry of up to 750 words. Despite initially believing that Florida's sunny climate would limit the number of foggy photos in their collection, Dennett was surprised to find a significant number of such images, particularly from the year 2018. The author expresses a newfound appreciation for the mysterious and magical qualities of fog, despite typically preferring sunny, hot weather. The challenge is presented as a fun opportunity for photographers to showcase their work and explore the dreamy and mysterious world that fog can create.

Opinions

  • Dennett expresses admiration for "pockett dessert's" moody fog photos, which sparked the idea for the photo challenge.
  • There is a sense of surprise from the author about the abundance of foggy photos in their portfolio, especially considering the sunny reputation of Florida.
  • Dennett acknowledges a personal preference for warm weather and sunshine but also recognizes the allure and enchanting nature of foggy landscapes.
  • The author seems to value both the visual and narrative aspects of photography, as indicated by the inclusion of a word limit for accompanying stories or poetry in the challenge.
  • Dennett's reflection on the number of foggy photos from 2018 suggests a retrospective realization of that year's particularly foggy conditions or a heightened engagement with photography during that time.

Foggy Photos

A Snapshots Photography Challenge

Today, I published this piece by pockett dessert:

I was so impressed with her moody fog photos that I thought it would be a fun challenge. I reached out to her and she agreed.

Interestingly, I thought I wouldn’t have many photos to contribute to the challenge. After all, this is Florida, known for sunshine, not fog. I used to live in Maine where morning and nighttime fog were common. But, here, not so much.

So, I was surprised when I typed “fog” in my Google Photos search field and received many more photos than I expected.

I was also surprised that the majority of my foggy photos were taken in 2018 — hmm, I didn’t realize that was such a fuzzy year!

I am a hot-weather-sunshine person, but I must admit that there is something mysterious and magical about fog.
