Focus On Your Trajectory

Where you are going is most important!

It’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day grind and get pulled in many directions.

Priorities can shift quickly. So, what should you focus on? Your trajectory.

Where you are going is much more important than where you currently are on any given day. Even an incremental change that brings you closer to your future can have a profound effect.

Lesson to Learn

Even a slight course adjustment can change everything.

For example, if you are on a flight from Los Angeles to New York and the pilot veers even 3.5 degrees south, you will arrive in Washington D.C. You would not even notice such a small change while on the flight. However, this incremental change puts you in a very different place.

Our trajectory is much more meaningful than where we are now. This can be incredibly comforting when feeling stuck or frustrated.

Focus on where you are going. In doing so, you can make the gradual changes needed — some very small — that will allow you to achieve your most vital outcomes.

Answer for Me

Keeping my eyes on where I want to go is vital in my life. Life gives us plenty of potential detours.

Focusing on what I truly want has always helped me steer toward the future. It has allowed me to come through challenging times and readjust my trajectory to arrive at my desired destination time and time again.

Even small changes in my life have allowed me to achieve meaningful goals.

I have wanted to be in better shape for a long time. When I was in the Army, I was in excellent condition because it was my career and the Army provided ample opportunities to pursue that goal. However, once I left the Army, life became so busy, and it was hard to stay in shape.

I decided that even a small workout each day was worth my time. I designed a daily workout to do while making my French press coffee. I have added some simple exercises and stretches to it over time. Incrementally, I created something I could do daily, which has led to doing more regular exercise sessions after work.

By focusing on where I was going, I made minor changes to get there. You can too!

Action

Where are you going?

What trajectory do you want to be on?

Once you set a course, how can you make even incremental changes to arrive at your desired destination?

Are there any distractions or obstacles getting in the way of your desired outcomes?

You can change course, even a tiny amount, to help you achieve your desired results. Use this skill!

When you do, you can reset the course of essential parts of your life. Don’t miss the opportunity to chart your course, make necessary changes, and achieve the goals you want at work and at home.

Daily Habits

Even small changes can help us achieve our desired goals.

Each moment of today, you can select a slightly different approach — and make even more significant changes. Focus today on where you want to go.

What is your ultimate trajectory? Pick actions that move you in that direction.

When you focus on your future and change how you live to get there, you change your present and future.

Remember that even a few degrees of change, unnoticeable to many, will change your arrival destination.

Use this powerful process to become the person you most want to be.
