Five Great Positive Changes That Happen Through Breath Meditation

There are many kinds of meditations that we could practice to enhance our spiritual growth. The ultimate purpose of meditations is to still our mind and bring us into the present moment. When we are in the present moment, our mind stops wandering into the past and future. With consistent practice of being in the present, we will gradually transcend into the deeper realms of cosmic consciousness. Cosmic consciousness is being aware about our innate truth. It is also known as self-realization.

Now, I hear you say, “tell me more about self-realizations.” Though, I love to do it, I have decided to save this thought for another day as it might take ‘a few more pages’ to complete my writings. Nonetheless, to keep it crispy and enjoyable for us, I would talk on the five great positive changes that happen through breath meditation.

Breath meditation is one of the most common meditation techniques used for self-realization and raising our quality of life. In breath meditation, we simply watch the inhalation and exhalation of our breath. Easy isn’t it? This meditation can be done sitting down at a quiet place or anywhere while we are still being engaged in our daily life activities. Right now, while writing this story, I do take breaks in between to watch my breath………

We shall look at the five great positive changes and the lessons learned through breath meditation

Awareness

We become aware about our own conscious and unconscious actions during breath meditation. There will be times when we will get distracted by thoughts while we are paying attention to our breath. However, we are able to “witness” our own unconscious moments of getting drawn into our thoughts.

Lesson: Breath meditation guides us to remain conscious in our actions, and be more alert and wary of our unconscious actions.

Letting Go

During breath meditation, we “let go” of our unconscious thoughts that distract us and continue with the conscious actions of watching our breath. In other words, breath meditation teaches us to let go of the unconscious moments in our lives, that contribute to our pain and sufferings.

Lesson: We need to practice letting go of thoughts and emotions, that do not serve a good purpose in our lives. Pain and sufferings give us opportunities to grow but it shouldn’t hinder our personal and spiritual growth.

Helps In Thinking Clearly

As we are watching our breath, our full attention and focus are brought into the present moment. The present moment clears our mind from intrusive and anxious thoughts which belong to the past and future. Less distractions from such thoughts lead to clear thinking abilities.

Use Emotions For A Higher Purpose

Thoughts generate emotions. Negative emotions further cloud our thinking. As mind becomes clearer, our emotions get grounded. We become mentally and emotionally strong and stable. We build the ability to use our emotions instead of losing it. Emotions are forms of energy, if we lose them, they become destructive but if we learn to use them, we would be able to construct positive changes in us and the people around.

Lesson: Our intuitions work better when our thoughts and emotions are stable. Hence, this is one way how meditation raises our intuitive powers (higher purpose).

Sensitivity

Meditation raises our awareness. Awareness enhances sensitivity. We develop good empathic and emotional intelligence through meditation. We are able to empathize deeply and comprehend the pain of others. We become conscious in our communication and actions so that we do not cause harm or pain to others intentionally.

Lesson: Imagine a mirror that is dusty, it has to be cleaned to reflect a clearer image. Meditation works in a similar way by “doing a cosmic cleanse and raising higher frequencies.” When we meditate regularly, we radiate positive vibes and develop quality and clarity in our actions.

My Final Thoughts

Birth and death hold our first and last breath. In between these times, breath acts as a life force and sustains our energy. Breathe is also our constant interaction with the universe. The universe responds back with goodness through our “conscious interactions” with it. Thus, this is one way how “conscious breathing” raises our power to battle life struggles, and contributes to a better living and spiritual development.
