Fishin’ Song (Poetry)

By Amy Potter ©April, 2005
Chorus:
Fish for breakfast. Fish-head stew.
Fish for dinner. Supper, too.
I got one pray’r; I got one wish:
that I weren’t so good at catchin’ fish.
Verse: Took my worm can and my long cane pole.
Took me a walk to the fishin’ hole.
Caught me a catfish, bluegill, too.
Reeled in an eel in an old black shoe.
Chorus:
Fish for breakfast. Fish-head stew.
Fish for dinner. Supper, too.
I got one pray’r; I got one wish:
that I weren’t so good at catchin’ fish.
