SIX WORD PHOTO STORY
First Wildlife Encounter This Fall
When you’re having eye contact with a squirrel: Freestyle
Patient fella posing on the tree.
I was on a casual walk through the forest looking for the first signs of fall when I heard something rustling in the undergrowth. Before I could recognize the animal, the squirrel was already up the tree.
These animals are incredibly shy here in Germany and even more difficult to shoot. This young fella didn’t climb all the way into the treetops but stopped on a cut-off branch.
Despite me walking with the camera in my hand I wasn’t ready. I had the wide-angle lens on when I remembered I was carrying my entire camera gear on my back. I decided to put the bag down, exchange the lenses… all while this squirrel was patiently waiting and posing for me.
Thank you!
