First Covid-19, Now The Delta Variant
How unvaccinated kids are at a risk, who knows where that risk can lead
The world has been in a tailspin for almost two years and is yet spinning where some are still dying from Covid-19 adding to the 600,000 plus but not at the alarming rate a year and a half ago, but nevertheless many around the world of yet suffering greatly like India.
Initially Covid-19 was attacking the elderly and then spread across the general population now the Delta variant, a highly transmissible disease, is attacking kids under twelve who are currently not eligible for vaccination and who knows truly who it will attack next.
Everyone, parents alike must keep abreast of the Delta variant and do diligence to ensure all are protected, kids and all. There are yet so many questions surrounding Covid-19 and thank God for the vaccinations providing some protection but the Delta variant probably still requires more study to comprehend its anatomy to contain with a vaccination of sort.
According to the news media, the Delta variant originated in India and scientists have estimated it is 60% more transmissible than the Alpha variant from the United Kingdom, which is 50% more transmissible than the original coronavirus. The Delta variant spreads twice as fast as the global pandemic. Overall, this is a lot to digest and try to live in the midst of, so one must educate and take precautions for self and others.
Children are meant to be carefree being protected by adults or family members but some things are out of one’s control and requires adjustments with precautions. Currently, there are 25% of the population affected by the Delta variant. This virus is emerging and spreading at an alarming rate that the scientists can barely keep up with research, testing, etc. The Delta variant is on its way to becoming the dominant strain.
While fully vaccinated people can take comfort in knowing that are protected from this new variant to some degree and will not die from it if by chance affected by it.
Due to the alarming rate that adults were being affected and dying from Covid-19, the vaccination were designed for this age group and later extended to the younger people above twelve years of ages. The kids under the age of twelve is yet at risk with the Delta variant, which is spreading and has caused hospitalizations in other countries. It is highly transmissible and causes substantial illness. Everyone needs to be on the alert, because these virus don’t take a vacation but continually affect and infect through its life cycle.
Unvaccinated adults and unvaccinated kids need to worry and be on guard for the Delta variant, and coronavirus. Even though children with coronavirus don’t require hospitalization like adults and faced the death rates of older adults, precaution is always the key. Everyone should be on guard, that diseases or viruses don’t discriminate.
The fall is coming and schools will be reopening, educators, parents and scientists need to put their heads together to ensure all precautions are in place for the children and adults, alike.
Everyone one plays a part and must equally do their part from wearing a mask, social distancing and whatever else it takes to ensure that the kids are safe and the general population. This is not the time to panic but the time for preparation.
In conclusion, at the end of the day, everyone who is eligible and can get vaccinated should do so for self and humanity for we are all in this human race together as we all breathe the same air. Much more outreach is needed not only to educate all but to encourage those who fear vaccination for whatever reasons, to do so, sooner than later.
