Does my DNA reveal a unique value proposition?

Why does DNA figure so prominently in many criminal cases? Your DNA is unique to you. The statisticians will tell you that the chance of two people having the same DNA is essentially zero. That is the biological proof that each of us is unique.

In school, I wanted to be like everyone else. Perhaps you felt the same way. I would have given anything to Mary, Susan or Linda. It didn’t matter that there were three Susan’s in the class. If I was Susan then maybe I would have fit in better. As Ada, I was called Ada potato or Ada tomato. Sometimes the “o” at the end would be traded for an “a”. It was hurtful. I didn’t want to be different.

As we grow into adulthood sometimes the desire to be like everyone else remains with us. We reject our uniqueness. We fail to recognize the great value that we have in our uniqueness when we choose to embrace it.

Some are fortunate enough to grow up in a home where their unique value was recognized, supported, and affirmed.

Unfortunately, there are many who were not as fortunate. Perhaps you are one of those. If you experienced sexual, physical, emotional, or mental abuse you did not grow up with your unique value being affirmed. On the contrary, in all probability, you grew up feeling worthless and without value.

Just as your DNA is unique, so is your value. In business, we frequently speak of the USP for a particular product. USP is the Unique Selling Proposition for that product. It is what makes that product unique and the reason why it is superior to competitive products for a given application.

Successful marketing strategies are dependent on identifying the appropriate USP and clearly conveying it to prospective purchasers.

“Your Unique Value” is effectively your USP. Just as a company needs to identify it for a product you must identify it for yourself. It is this clarity that affirms your value as an individual and your potential contribution to the world. Just as your DNA is unique, so is your value and your potential impact on the world.

Everything we do not only affects our own life but it impacts a multitude of others. As you set an example of clarity and accomplishment in your own life, empower others to reach out with the courage to do likewise. If you can do it they become confident that they too can accomplish long-cherished hopes and aspirations.
