Find Me Below the Dirt
A Poem
It has nothing to do with dying this fantasy about living six feet under the Earth and burrowing into a cave so deep that the noise stops
I’ve gone as far as I can into myself and now I want to dig deeper I want to unearth the dirt and shovel me a home and lay in it and bathe in silence
I want to peek through holes to see sunlight and blue sky I want to create a listening tube so nature can notify my ears of its every sway and bounce
What I don’t want is the constant stream of modern life doorbell ringing, phone pinging mail coming, appliances humming inbox full, no hair to pull
And the cycle starts over again but not below the dirt Here, I am one with nature a planted human waiting for growth
