Find Hope With These Featured Writers

The 3 X 3 — Featured ILLUMINATION writers

If you want more opportunities, you need to clear space for them. This week I spent a lot of time cleaning. I cleaned my little one-room apartment, and went to war on the cohabitating bugs. I deleted a ton of files from my computer, and made a dent in removing useless bookmarks from my browser. This cleansing reduced my feeling of overwhelm, and I was able to start putting the short-term future into perspective.

I recommend this process if you are feeling stuck. Clear out the old and unwanted to make space for new opportunities. That is the only way serendipity will make its way into your life.

Here are this week’s featured writers, all with different perspectives but a similar desire. They hope to see a better world and through their writing share ways to make that a reality.

Richard White is a business consultant who is training to run his first marathon. Needless to say, he is one driven individual. Through his writing, he shares his journey, and what he is learning along the way in order to become a top performer.

The other day, my friend said he enjoys eating eggs for breakfast, but he does not have the time to cook them. I scoffed at this idea, because eggs are one of the quickest and easiest foods to prepare. All he would have to do is get up a little earlier each morning to enjoy one of his favorite dishes. Here Richard explains how you can own your morning and the rest of your day, as well.

In the story, A Jaguar Taught Me That Money is for Here and Now Not Just the Future, he talks about extrinsic motivators and how they can help drive us to our goals.

As a service provider, there are two ways to fix your pricing, cost, and value. If you set your prices on cost you will never be happy because you will continually feel that the value you provide is underappreciated.

However, if you set your prices according to value you will be pleasantly surprised at how much people are willing to pay when their perceived value is greater than your price. Want to see how to do that? Check out this story:

Alexandria Roswick is a survivor of domestic violence, and the trauma associated with it. When she found her writing voice, she was able to support countless women who had experienced similar horrific experiences. Her stories reflects that journey and her desire to succeed as a content creator.

Why Did She Stay? — Because We Are A Society of Victim-Blamers presents the age-old problem of blaming the victim. This is a real problem, and the dogpiling on victims has got to stop. As people of principle, we can all speak out for the victims we happen upon and be champions for a better way.

That is the empathy that drives Alexandria, and it could be something that aligns with your moral compass, too.

While this story initially appears to be about the grind of creating, it is a deeper look at the motivations for doing anything we want to do. Find your whys, and no obstacle is too big (though you may need to take detours from time to time).

Our last featured writer for this week is Thesilkroads. He is a true optimist. He believes we can find a better way to live in harmony with the world around us if we just take the time to imagine what that world might look like.

Take for example, this story of how wildflowers and bumble bees worked together to protect each other.

In The Way We Love, he shares the importance of giving time to relationships and the value of gratitude. This story reminds me of an idea gifted to me this week: To truly realize the power of your gifts and knowledge, you have to use them. Only then can we experience those in their entirety.

I’ll leave you with this story about a world without people. Would it be better or worse? The world would definitely not be the same.

Thanks for spending a little of your glorious day with me. I appreciate you.

Win the Day!

John
