Remember two months ago when I warned about these scammers, infamous as the leeches of Medium? Battling Scams: My Heartfelt Struggle Against 5 Medium Attacks in a Week, Unveiling Their Latest Tactic. Now, they have newer tactics. They never give up.

They are infiltrating our ecosystem like viruses, now targeting the platform’s immune system itself. Every day, they devise new tactics to prey on established and renowned writers, and they’re even going after senior executives like Buster Benson, mimicking their trust to deceive unsuspecting members.

After reading a clever poem with a compelling story by Marcus aka Gregory Maidman, I was inspired to address a pressing issue once more with care as a Friend of Medium, writer, and editor. Here is the link to his piece: Catch Us If You Can!: A sonnet of scammers have Medium playing whack-a-mole.

Marcus’s clever poem gave me a few chuckles, but it also stirred a concern within me. These scammers are eroding the integrity and ethics of the platform with their unethical approaches. It is something that can’t be overlooked by the community and the management.

Having recently encountered six cloned incidents, I’m driven to revisit this issue to inform, inspire, and empower my readers and fellow writers. It was disheartening to see my readers mistakenly believe I was involved in dodgy writing community offers.

I want to clarify that I never promote business on this platform; it’s a space for pleasant reading and sharing thoughts, not for commercial endeavors.

Recognizing their cunning yet primitive tactics isn’t too challenging.

Simply check their accounts: no followers, memberships, or FoM icons, and no stories written. Stay vigilant, and together, we can combat this silly deception.

Here is a message from a scam account that looks like a response to comments from a legitimate reader.

When encountering such comments, take swift action. Click on the account, report it as spam and a rules violation, and then block it to mitigate further spamming effects.

Your prompt response can expedite the removal of these nuisances and maintain the integrity of our platform.
