Self Improvement/Goal Momentum
Finally Fully Alive Embraces Goal Momentum
Using goal focus to build goal momentum
An unscientific definition of momentum is that it is the power of motion, that creates the continuation of that motion. If an object does not move then it has no momentum. However, in everyday life, many people fail to recognize how the principle of momentum applies to their situation. Momentum is a part of just about every activity that involves motion. It is an essential concept of physics.
Think of a runner running a race. He has given it everything he has. he is exhausted, yet it is his momentum that carries him across the finish line.
Momentum is self-perpetuating. As momentum is sustained it increases of its own volution. Think of a car. When you are driving uphill it is necessary to continue to give it gas in order to continue to progress. This is how traditionally goals are approached. Keep plodding and keep working at it and eventually, you will get there.
Think of that same care on level ground. After a sustained period of driving, you can take your foot off of the accelerator and it will continue forward for a period of time before slowing down. Momentum is what keeps it moving forward initially.
Now think of that same car going downhill going on a gentle grade. It is not steep enough for gravity to be a significant factor. Once you have started you find yourself accelerating without any additional gas. This is the power of momentum.
So How Does Being Fully Alive Embrace Goal Momentum?
Being Fully Alive Helps Overcome Obstacles
Obstacles inhibit our path forward. They are designed to keep us stuck. Have you ever watched a home improvement show where they are taking down a wall between two rooms? Then you see the contractor kick a hole in the wall. This is the power of momentum when you encounter an obstacle.
If he simply put his foot against the wall and pushed it is doubtful he would successfully knock a hole in it. But with the power (momentum) of a strong kick, a giant hole appears. It is good TV and entertaining but it is also a good visual about the power of momentum to break through obstacles.
When you are fully alive you have the energy (like the kick) to break through obstacles that appear strong and immovable under other circumstances.
Being Fully Alive Empowers You to Release Overwhelm
Feelings of being overwhelmed sap our energy and kill momentum. When you are fully alive you have absolute clarity about who you are and where you are going.
You experience the freedom that comes with that clarity. That includes the freedom and the confidence to say no to things that are not in alignment with “Your Unique Definition of Success”.
Learning how and when to say no is the key to moving beyond overwhelm and living in a place of freedom to be goal-focused and easily build momentum moving forward just like the car on a gentle downhill grade. It is comfortable and natural.
Being Fully Alive Carries You Forward Towards Your Goals
When you see yourself moving forward naturally without the stress of extreme effort it becomes a joyful and esteem-enhancing process.
You can start right now. I have created a simple process that allows you to move forward at your own pace. Long-term consistency is the key to winning the race and changing your life and becoming “Finally Fully Alive Now.”
