How can you love yourself if you don’t love the life you’re in? What you see, what you experience, what you feel for others comes right back to how you feel about yourself.
Self-love is all about positivity.
When you see the positive in other things and other people, it’s much easier to see those things in yourself. So, one of the first steps in learning to love yourself is creating a more positive mindset and eliminating negative outlooks.
Start with people
How do you feel when you are with someone who finds negativity in everything? You feel cranky and you see everything in a negative light, don’t you?
In order to fill yourself with positivity, seek out people who fill you with all the positive vibes. Choose to surround yourself with others who get excited about a new project instead of complaining that they don’t have time for it. Hang out with friends and family members who get revved up by checking out a new restaurant or by listening to you talk about the new story you’re writing.
Attitudes like this are contagious!
When you’re surrounded by people who are excited, encouraging, and energized by life, you’ll feel the same way. And it’s really hard to be down on yourself when you’re hyped up about all the good in life!
Hang out with a dog
I’m not recommending you get a dog just to feel happier. But let’s be honest, dogs are pretty exceptional. Or cats. If you’re not a dog person, cats are pretty cool, too.
Don’t get a pet if you’re not ready for the responsibility.
If you don’t have people in your life, you can turn to for those positive vibes, though pets are pretty awesome. Even if you take someone else’s dog for a walk or to the park (ask their people if that’s ok first!), you can pick up some serious feel good vibes.
How can you chase a ball around with a dog and not feel good afterwards? Laughing and exercise are both great ways to boost endorphins. And then there’s the fact that any animal you spend time petting, cuddling, and playing with will love you unconditionally!
Time + positive vibes = love
You don’t learn to love yourself overnight. But if you add more positivity in your life, from people or from animals, you’ll start feeling more positive. When you feel more positive about your life, it’s so much easier to look at yourself and be kind, loving, and generous.
