Fighting Grief
A Real Story

It comes by Waves.
Relentless.
Waxing and waning;
Lurking in the dark void
Of my loss,
Waiting to pounce.
Suddenly knocking me off my feet
Like a hurricane
Without notice or warning,
Twisting my senses
Like a tornado
Without respect for privacy.
It attacks in waves;
I lash out,
Fighting, Kicking, Punching
The enemy Within yet Unseen.
A Pause, then
Pain.
Unbearable pain,
Numbing and immobilizing,
Sapping every ounce of life;
Its vortex draining
Every drop of
Purpose and Meaning.
I lay down.
Giving up.
My end is Near.
Get it over quick,
I shout and smile,
Hoping soon for
Reunion with my Departed Love.
