2022 WRITING PROMPT JOURNEY

Fiction Writing Prompts — Week Six

Prompts for February 5th to 11th — Love Month!

Photo by Amy Shamblen on Unsplash

Welcome to February, heretofore known exclusively as Love Month (or at least for the next couple of weeks). Rest assured, you will more than get your fill of romance and rose-colored prompts before we’re done!

Rest further assured, you are encouraged to write whatever these prompts inspire you to write. Whether that’s a super sweet romantic piece, or a piece where valentines are sent out by a hideous monster who preys on couples every February 14th… My favorite genre of movie to watch on Valentine’s Day has always been horror, so you know which way I’m more likely to lean.

No matter what you choose, there are no wrong interpretations. Just have fun!

So let’s get started right now! Your three Love Month fiction prompts for this week are below.

The simple rules for this Journey:

1. Pick a prompt (or two or three!) every week or as often as you have time, and get writing.

2. Post anywhere, on your own page or in a publication, and share a link in your post that links back to the original Prompt post.

3. Share a link to your post in the comments of the weekly Prompt post. This is optional, but I would love to be able to read what you come up with.

4. Finally, tag your post with “Writing Prompt Journey”.

Prompt 2

You’re starting your first day as a therapist, and in walks your first client ever: Cupid. And boy oh boy, do they have a lot to unpack.

Prompt 3

You’re single and going out with friends for Valentine’s Day, but when you step through the restaurant door, you emerge instead into the world of your favorite Hollywood romantic comedy…

Remember to check out the Non-Fiction and Poetry Prompts for Week Six which will be going up as well very shortly. You can also go back to see the previous weeks’ prompts here.

And please don’t forget to post links to your prompted Love Month fiction in the comments, and link back to this post in your writing so more people can join the journey. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
