Feeding True Hunger Is The Recipe For Success

What hunger are you after?

I start my mornings with a journal, a book, a few minutes of meditation, and an hour of exercise.

That day, while meditating, my mind wandered a lot. He had a question for me.

“Why is it that a few people squeeze out a lot from their 24-hours, while others struggle?”

My 10 to 5 sleep keeps me active and productive. Hence, during those early morning hours, when I notice a lot of mid-night chats on my WhatsApp groups, I asked myself, what is that I am missing?

Am I the one missing all the fun?

These thoughts were bothering me while I was trying to meditate, and my mind was desperately looking for an answer.

That’s when a “Flash thought” strikes!

My mind asked me —

“What do you do when you are hungry?”.

My mind answered —

“You stand up, locate food, have it, and feel delighted.”

The answer I was looking for was in the word — “Hunger.”

“Your hunger differs from mine.”

That was the answer I was looking for, and a “Flash thought” returned that. And, once again, I was mesmerized by the potential of Meditation.

But that’s not the point here. The point is “Hunger.”

  • Are you hungry for screen time or reading time?
  • Are you hungry for sugar or a healthy snack?
  • Are you hungry for attention or meditation?
  • Are you hungry to know about others’ life or for self-awareness?
  • Are you hungry for “doing” or for “thinking”?
  • Are you hungry for “speaking” or for “listening”?
  • Are you hungry for busyness, stress, and chaos, or a life full of impact and fulfillment?

Does the difference in hunger make one right and the other wrong?

No. Absolutely No.

Hunger seeks variety

We all need flavors. That’s how we get pleasure. The moment we don’t do that, dullness kicks in. Our cravings need joy; the hunger needs variety. Your taste palette differs from mine.

That’s why your hunger is different. Your flavors and desires are different.

But, if that’s the case, my mind drives me towards some more questions:

  • Why are we not hungry for Happiness?
  • Why are we not hungry for Deep work?
  • Why are we hungry for useless Social media feeds?
  • Why are we hungry for Binge watching?
  • Why are we not hungry for Fitness?
  • Why are we not hungry for Knowledge?
  • Why are we not hungry to make a difference in our own lives?

Success = Hunger.

Big Success = Big Hunger

If you want to become the best version of yourself, have the Hunger for it. Big hunger. That’s what my mind was feeding me. That day’s meditation was all about Hunger.

My eyes were shut, but my mind was directing me to a unique world — a world of answers and perspectives.

If the hunger is missing, you will not stand up. If you are not standing up, there is no way you will relish the flavors of success and happiness. Progress and growth are all about Hunger.

“Be hungry for success, hungry to make your mark, hungry to be seen and to be heard and to have an effect. And as you move up and become successful, make sure also to be hungry for helping others.” — Arnold Schwarzenegger

What’s your hunger?

We are into a complete lockdown. If you are not making the best use of this period, you are missing something. The health keepers, the social workers, the policemen, the sweepers, they all are hungry to leave a mark on this World.

If you are hungry for something, get up and make a mark.

Social media feeds, binge-watching, excess television, online games, they are junk food. Check them. They want nothing but your attention; they feel like the most appealing things, but they will leave a significant adverse impression on you.

Instead, pick up books, recall that old passion, a new habit, an unknown language, some family time, daily exercises, and that will bring your future self right in front of you.

“Stay hungry. Feast on success.” Anonymous

A healthy person knows how to manage hunger. Proper food at the correct time, and that’s how he knows the shine will come.

Similarly, a successful person manages his hunger too. Yearning for knowledge, the desire to learn, appetite to gain new habits, to be happy, that’s what makes all the difference.

Hunger helps

Your hunger to improve and grow will help you taste the unknown territories. That’s when you enter the “uncomfort” zone. That’s the area where you gain new skills, experiences, and fresh understanding. And once that happens, you generate results and that too better one.

We all have 24-hours to satisfy our hunger.

The way you do it versus the way others do it makes all the difference.

Let’s be hungry; let’s be successful.

It’s time for dinner with friends.

“So, what’s there on your plate today?”
