February Prompt at Age of Empathy: Friendship

We want to hear about those friendships that left a lasting impact

Winter is one of those times I always go inward. If I had it my way, I’d probably hibernate for a good three months and then emerge, like the hedgehogs, once the sun is warmer and the flowers are starting the litter the ground.

But as a reluctant human, I see the winter days through in a combination of introspection, rest and warmth, and the human connections that mean the most to me are what carry me through. Whether in person or a friendship kept alive through the wonder of the internet, these friendships serve as a comfort to me. Be it drinking tea in a cottage kitchen around an aga, walking our dogs in bright winter sunshine, our faces wrapped as many times as the length of our scarves will allow, or propped up against cushions in my bed while hugging a hot water bottle and chatting on WhatsApp, these moments of feeling the love and pull of a dear friend are special ones.

And it is these moments that inspired this month’s prompt: Friendship.

We invite you to share moments, memories, and meaningful encounters that have left a lasting impression on you. It can be a story of a friendship that has lasted the test of time or one that has faded, having ended its own story. Perhaps it is a friend passed and sorely missed, or a friend lost through a stupid mistake.

Whatever your story, share it with us for this month’s prompt. Use the tag “Friendship” to make sure it populates with all the other prompt responses for the month on the homepage.
