She looked at him, sadness and regret poured from her eyes, and said, “I am sorry, but I thought I could save you. I thought I could have changed your destiny. I was wrong. All that I have been doing to you and for you, for the years I have known you, I didn’t change your fate, I just delayed it.”

The police officer said, “You have one-minute ma’am.”

“Please,” her husband of twenty years begged, “this is the last time, I promised.”

She nodded, sadly stifling her tears, “You are making a promise to the wrong person.”

“But you are my wife, who should I make promises to?”

She got up, clutching her bag, and said, “Try making it to Fate, maybe this time it might save you. For all the love and kindness I have added to your life, fate always seems to be in control. Goodbye, dear John.”

Fate will wait, but it will not be denied.

How many of us try our best to save someone we love from a life of disaster, only to have Fate return years later to claim what’s theirs. Can humans beat Fate?

Thank you for reading this piece. I hope you enjoyed it.
