Fiction Writing

Fascinating Fiction Writing Challenges on Vocal Media

There are still six competitions that we can join and increase the chance of earning prizes.

Dear Fiction Writers,

We are pleased that many of our fiction writers joined recent fiction writing competitions on Vocal Media. They are now repurposing their content on Medium. It is a win-win for both platforms and extra value for writers.

Not all writers have seen the previous invitation from Dr Yildiz, so he recommended we create visibility for those who might not have seen his post. I volunteered because, interestingly, we received a few inquiries from interested writers who missed the first two challenges.

They asked, “why didn’t you tell us before?”. Well, we cannot transmit information to people’s brains yet. However, Dr Yildiz and his partner in crime [Editor of Technology Hits] might jointly work on this goal. Heaven knows what they do!

First, let me give you some background information on why fiction writers should join these types of challenges. Then, I provide some essential info about the specific challenges and the deadlines.

These challenges offer many benefits.

Fiction is fun and can be therapeutic too. If we improve our writing and gain many readers, we can also earn passive income from our fiction books.

In addition, we can repurpose our books, such as in our publications on Medium and earn extra income. We believe that many writers need additional income. One of the viable ways is repurposing our content. We can use Medium, Vocal Media, and NewsBreak. We can also create blogs, books, videos, podcasts, and newsletters on Substack, Revue, or even at Kof-Fi.

Dr Yildiz introduced some practical ways on how to triple our writing income. He also recommended writers take benefits of affiliate marketing using our content. Writers can use affiliate links both on Medium and Vocal. He guided writers on how to use affiliate marketing in his recent book published on Medium. He recommends we declare our affiliate links

Medium and Vocal Media allows using affiliate links. These links can bring us additional income, as he explained in his recent book. All we need to do is declare our affiliate links as we do for our stories on Medium. For example, I have an affiliate site constructed with the assistance of Dr Yildiz, kindly. It brings me a few dollars per day. It is new so I can’t complain. This is the first time I used it in a story on Medium but use it on my personal blogs and mailing lists. So I declare it here and at the end of this story.

If you are not a published writer yet, you can compile your fiction stories and convert those stories to books. Dr Yildiz guided our writers on How To Create A 30,000 Words E-book In A Month: Practical steps to produce a manuscript with 1,000-words a day.

ILLUMINATION has supported fiction writers since day one. We have many fiction writers, perhaps around 3,000, from my understanding, apart from having a fiction amplifier on our publications ILLUMINATION and ILLUMINATION-Curated.

Some of our other resources extending the Medium platform are through our Slack workspace and multiple social media platforms. For example, we have a Fiction Club to allow our fiction writers to collaborate. In addition, we have several Quora Spaces and Flipboard Magazines to distribute our fiction stories. Finally, we can share our stories on the social media platforms that we built for our writers.

We also post all fiction pieces to LinkedIn, Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook pages. I think Dr Yildiz cover links to these platforms in this story. However, they are not my cup of tea.

Dr Yildiz introduced Vocal Media in a couple of stories, such as writing six stories, and Vocal Is Not Just For Money. He created a Quora space for Vocal Writers and established a LinkedIn Group for Vocal writers for collaboration. He even started repurposing chapters of his recent books.

There are many reasons to join these writing challenges.

The most obvious reason is to win prizes.

Vocal Media pays $5,000 for the first winner, $1,000 for the second, and $500 for the third winner. Of course, everyone cannot win but simply put, if we don’t join, we have no chance. By joining, we increase our chance, and in the worst-case scenario, we can earn income from stories that we developed in the process.

We can use both Vocal and Medium for publishing our stories. These two platforms are great as they don’t put limitations on our writers. Plus, we own our own copyright and can re-use the materials for different purposes as we like.

Another great reason to participate in these challenges is the motivation and inspiration gained from our readers. And we certainly need more readers to make money out of our fiction writing. So even if we don’t win, our fiction stories can bring us new readers.

Bottom line, there is no risk in joining these competitions.

The new competition from Vocal Media is called Summer Fiction Series. They abbreviate it as SFS.

There are multiple challenges. Some of them have already closed, so let me introduce the open ones.

Vocal Media keeps adding new challenges since we joined them. You can access Vocal challenges at this link.

There are specific requirements to join these competions.

1 — The first requirement is to be a Vocal+ member.

2 — The stories you submit must be minimum 600 words and maximum 2,000 words.

3 — Needless to say, like Medium, you must be 13 years of old. Wish I knew about such challenges when I was a teenager. I could have been a best seller now.

4 — Vocal only uses Stripe so you need to find a way to use this payment method. Currently, Stripe operates in 44 countries.

This is all I learned from the initial invitation of Dr Yildiz and reviewing the Vocal Media site. You can contact him directly on on the Slack workspace. He is also on almost every social media platform using his real name. I have no clue how he manages so many social media platforms so effectively and still finds time to talk each of us calmly despite dumping our flooded issues to him.

Anyway, it is his problem! I’m happy to help him to achieve his vision.

So what are you waiting for?

Let’s move ourselves out of our comfort zones and make them happen.

We have nothing to lose.

Imagine now you earn $5K, what would you do with that money?
