Fantastic Voyage Part Nine: Honoring Your Humanity and Unlinking Joy from Progression

Honoring your humanity is one of the best things you can do for yourself as a human being. Many of the issues we have in life revolve around the inability to accept our humanity. This is not to say that we should not continue to strive to be a better version of ourselves. However, we should take more opportunities to give ourselves some grace just to be our imperfect selves from time to time.

Being a human is messy sometimes, and it is unavoidable. One of the places I traveled to in order to avoid my humanity was my old hiding place named perfectionism. I could not continue down the road of being perfect because I lost out on receiving real love and acceptance based on who I was. My true identity and humanity could not emerge until I received deliverance from trying to reach the unobtainable goal of being perfect. Perfectionism stopped me from seeing the beauty of God’s original design in myself.

We are beautiful works of chaos, art, and love- all of the things.

Unlinking my joy from the progression of my life was an important tool in accepting my humanity. We are not the sum total of what we do in life. No matter what we do, where we work, or the titles that we hold- we are still fully human, we are still a fully divine creation of God, and we are deserving of all the joy. Strive to honor your humanity and accept joy in your life; you will not regret the effort.
