Fantastic Voyage Part Eight: Choosing Yourself and Happiness is a Choice

Choosing yourself can be a hard task when you hold multiple roles in life. As a wife, mother, and employee- managing any time for myself was a challenge of epic proportions. Most of the time, I would take care of the needs of others before addressing my own. This is one of the areas where I sought out accountability and mentorship because I was failing miserably on my own. My inability to choose myself was making me sick- literally. No one was asking me to do this- I simply chose to defer my own needs. However, the old saying is true- you cannot pour out of an empty cup.

The importance of me resting, and taking some time out for myself was not only important for me- these things were important for the example that I was setting for others as well. Human beings read other humans through their actions more than their words.

Happiness is a choice. We cannot purchase permanent happiness or obtain happiness through some osmosis. We have to make the choice of happiness through perspective. Our perspective about our situations can invite despair or gratitude. Each path determines the meter of our happiness scale. Happiness has to come from within. It is my hope that we all choose happiness for ourselves every day.

Thank you again for joining me on my fantastic voyage as I revisit the wisdom of times past and discuss my life lessons. May the series be a blessing and cheat code in life for you as well. ❤
