Six Word Photo Story: Freestyle

Sprouting succulents top off fall’s pumpkins.

My daughter tells me I am obsessed with pumpkins, and to be honest, she is right.

Every fall, I am in search of funny-shaped pumpkins and gourds. I love how many things one can do to pumpkins: carve, decorate, and eat them, to mention the main ones. When I came upon these pumpkins topped with succulents, I was intrigued by the brilliant idea and creativity of the artist.

“About how long do the pumpkins and the succulents last in this perfect state of beauty and harmony?” I asked the artist, a woman with an expressive face and big, bright eyes.

“I had someone tell me that her decorated pumpkin lasted a whole year,” she said.

“Wow!” I replied. “That’s a long time.”

I was tempted to buy one of the pumpkins because they were 50% off, but then I decided to keep these fancy pumpkins in my memory even longer than one year.
