You see no harm in being direct…
“I seek the Sword of Light,” you say, striding into the center of the room. “It’s an ancient Celtic weapon, and in my view, more than just a legend!”
The villagers look at each other, the adults narrowing their eyes whether through tension or distrust, you’re not sure.
But you press on. “I’ve been studying the sword in the historical records. It might be centuries old, but I am sure it it exists. It’s in this area — I know it.”
“And if you found it?” It is the older man.
You hesitate. In truth, you hadn’t thought that far ahead
“Well?” demands the old man.
You notice for the first time that he is holding a vicious-looking dagger with a snake-liked design and a golden Celtic knot design on its handle. His knuckles are white as he clutches it.
“Okay, the thing is,” you say at last, “I’d be famous. This would be one of the greatest historical finds of all time. People would come from all over the world to see it in the National Museum.”
“Yeah, that’s not going to happen,” says the woman’s voice from behind you. You gasp as you feel the blade of her spear thrust into your back. You twist, looking around frantically; the two burly men are closing in too, and the old man raises his dagger.
“The sword is our family heritage,” he growls, as the dagger plunges downwards.
The End.

Also — this is a collaborative story. It may be the end as I have written it… but you are welcome to write another chapter! Perhaps Jade shows up and rescues our protagonist at the last moment.
