Summary

The Washington Post has decided against maintaining a database of President Biden's falsehoods despite continuing its fact-checking efforts, a move criticized as indicative of partisan bias and a broader decline in American journalistic integrity.

Abstract

The author expresses disappointment upon learning that the Washington Post will not maintain a database tracking the false statements made by President Joe Biden, even after highlighting the necessity for ongoing presidential fact-checking. This decision comes despite the Post's previous extensive coverage of Biden's misleading claims during his first 100 days in office. The Post's Editor and Chief Writer for the Fact Checker attribute the lack of a database to the high labor and time costs involved, a rationale the author finds dubious. The article accuses the Washington Post of abandoning journalistic independence to become a tool for elite propaganda, reflecting a broader sentiment that American media has deteriorated into partisan hackery and serves elite agendas. The author laments the state of journalism, citing examples such as repetitive news coverage and inconsistent stances on political issues, and questions whether there is a path away from the cycle of media sensationalism and bias.

Opinions

  • The Washington Post's decision not to maintain a falsehoods database is seen as suspect and indicative of partisan bias.
  • The author believes that the Post's justification for not maintaining the database—that it is too labor-intensive—is unconvincing, given the ease of building and maintaining databases.
  • The Washington Post is criticized for no longer being an independent journalistic source but rather a propaganda tool for the elite.
  • The author suggests that the American media landscape has become a forum for elite agendas, with media outlets engaging in sensationalism and partisan reporting.
  • There is a perceived double standard in media coverage, such as the treatment of the "children in cages" issue under different presidential administrations.
  • The author expresses a sense of disillusionment with the trajectory of American journalism, which they have observed declining over the years.
  • The article questions the possibility of breaking free from the cycle of media bias and sensationalism.

I learned today that the Washington Post will not maintain a database of Biden's falsehoods as they continue Fact-Checking the United States president. We are told this after the Washington Post prints the article listed below, highlighting the actual need for them to continue fact-checking the president. If you are going to do the work of Fact-checking, why would you not maintain a database? The reasoning is suspect and idiotic.

The Editor and Chief Writer, for the WP’s Fact Checker, explains that maintaining the database requires too much labor and hours. The reason databases are popular is that they are easy to build and inexpensive to maintain.

This move can only be attributed to partisan hackery at the hands of the media, and it is shameful. The Washington Post is no longer a journalistic independent news source (if it ever was). It is a propaganda tool of the elite.

Hell. Who am I trying to kid? All American media is propaganda nonsense for most elite agendas.

From five days of 24-hour coverage of the same breaking news that they broke five days ago, to children in cages was bad under Trump but hey look over there now that it continues with Biden.

I can’t believe that this is what American journalism has turned into. I am not sure why I can’t believe it I actually watched it happen slowly and methodically, year after year.

Is there a way out of this endless cycle of nonsense?
