September Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Comfort”

Red is the color of love.

Leaves were falling, just like embers. In colors red and gold, they set us on fire. Burning just like a moonbeam in our eyes.

I was looking into my lover’s eyes when I sang these lyrics last weekend. She loves the way Shawn Colvin signs Killing the Blues.

That the song contains references to colors: red, gold and blues makes me think of the scenes my lover often paints. Trees and fall colors are recurring themes in her art.

When I found these red leaves, I brought them home to her as a source of inspiration.

Fall is the season when we become insular. We circle the wagons. We migrate indoors. We inspire each other. We hold each other closer. We warm each other’s hearts. We get comfortable. We feel the red.
