Falling Can Cause Serious Consequences
It can even be fatal
Falling is generally more serious for older people
Although most people have fallen at times throughout their lives, the falls are usually not serious. Many people trip and fall but do not get hurt. If someone falls regularly, there may be an underlying health problem.
When people age and become elderly, falling can be a very serious matter which occurs with more frequency. It can even be the cause of death. Studies have shown falls to be the leading cause of injury, trauma, and death from injury for adults who are 65 and older. That means senior citizens should be careful and try to avoid falling.
Falling and hitting one’s head is especially dangerous. It is well known that concussions are a serious concern for young people who play football or extreme sports who may hit their heads in falls. When a person hits his head, he should definitely be seen and checked out by a doctor.
Bob Saget’s death has now been proclaimed as having been caused from trauma to the head.
Meredith Deliso reported recently for ABC News: “Bob Saget died from head trauma, family says.”
Bob Saget, who was found unresponsive in a hotel room last month, died from head trauma, his family said in a statement.
The comedian and actor, who was most famous for his role as Danny Tanner in the sitcom “Full House,” was found dead in his room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida, on Jan. 9, authorities said.
While it is not clear exactly what happened to Saget, it is speculated that he got up in the night. He may have fallen and hit his head. He could have thought it was nothing and went back to sleep or he could have passed out.
Falls can happen to anyone, young or old. It is important when a fall happened that medical attention is received if it is warranted. Falls can be embarrassing, but they can also be extremely serious and even fatal.
