Facts Are Important…But So Are Feelings

Both are important to have in life

If you have navigated through the social media world, you’ve probably seen this statement at some point.

‘’Facts don’t care about your feelings.’’

Usually, the person who types this online will be a male or female with a default photo that shows their face with a hardened exterior.

It is always amusing when I see someone use the phrase in an online debate with someone else — as if they’re immune from having strong feelings about anything in life. It’s comical.

Facts are important in life. They help us understand what the truth is in life and event (events). You’ll never see me dispute the importance of facts. With so much misinformation out on various subjects, it’s imperative for all of us to search for the facts in whatever subject we’re passionate about.

That’s written, feelings are equally as important as facts. Maybe not from an information standpoint, but from a humanistic standpoint.

It’s amazing how many feelings we can feel inside our human bodies. From happy, sad, glad, angry, resentful, bitter, and so forth. Feelings remind us that we are alive inside. Without them, we would be androids or AI creations. Vessels without a soul.

Facts can create feelings, depending on how interesting, pleasant, or unpleasant they are. Having feelings arise from facts or a statement, doesn’t make those feelings irrelevant. Those feelings tell the truth about what a human being is feeling at the moment.

Whether those feelings are right or wrong, it’s just what is.

Feelings can also protect us from danger or a situation that doesn’t feel right to us. Our feelings can save our life if we listen very carefully to them. They’re there inside of us for a reason.

So ‘’haters of feelings’’ shouldn’t be quick to dismiss someone’s feelings just because they don’t approve of what someone else is feeling to what they say or type online.

We need both to gain an understanding of how to navigate this complex world.
