Face Wash And A Revitalizing Body Lotion

A story about an honest mistake I made.

It is difficult to admit the mistakes we have made especially a silly mistake. It can be as small or as inconsequential as it is, the difficult part lies in admitting it and not making the same mistake again the next time.

According to research, many people continuously make the same mistakes over and over because the neural pathway associated with that bad habit has been formed consciously or unconsciously.

It takes effort and time to break our bad habits. The same can be said with a good habit, if you are obsessed with something, you will make it a good habit, and do it again and again simply because the good habit neural pathway has been formed.

As Aristotle said it the best, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

So I want to write this post to remind us that is important to get in the habit of admitting our own honest mistakes and learn from it rather than just moving on and repeating the same mistake again the next time.

This story might be irrelevant to you, but the big lesson I want to share with you is that small mistakes often lead to big mistakes, bad habits lead to extreme-bad habits.

But once we are reflective and mindful of our own shortcomings, we will be able to excel and partake in larger tasks in other aspects of our lives and becoming a more successful and fulfilled person.

The Story Of What Happened

After a week of using a body lotion as face wash, I didn’t feel much of a difference.

Initially, I just felt a bit strange, but I couldn’t really describe the feeling, and I didn’t give too much thought to it.

Only after 2 weeks in, I could really feel this oiliness and weird feeling on my face so I decided to read the words on the bottle more carefully.

Then to my amazement, I had screwed up by buying a face wash instead of a body lotion. I felt like the biggest moron in the world, like literally.

I could easily return it back to the store and get a new one or I can keep it and use it as a lesson for me the next time I go to the Shoppers Drug Mart to “READ” more thoroughly and not be dissuaded by the “On Sale” tag which was another factor drove me to buy the “face wash” without thinking too much.

Takeaways

As human beings, we all make mistakes on the daily basis, whether consciously or unconsciously. It can be as trivial as mistaking the face wash as a body lotion or vice versa.

We can choose to laugh at ourselves and learn from the lesson or pretending like it didn’t happen and risk the chance of making the same mistakes again the next time. The choice is entirely up to us.

I have come to learn to take the courage to admit the mistake no matter how inconsequential and making sure it doesn’t happen the next time.

The important lesson is to be able to laugh at our mistakes and learn from our lessons and not make the same mistake again in the future.

I hope you are inspired and entertained with this piece! :)
