Bill Gates, we always thought he was the boring guy compared to Steve Jobs, who, even as he was dying, became a legend not only among technophiles.

Jobs was the rock star, and Bill, well, whatever happened to him?

By now, you must have heard the news that he and Melinda are divorced.

In a joint statement last year, they announced, as Gwyneth Paltrow said when she divorced Chris Martin, they reached a "conscious uncoupling decision."

After 27 years of marriage, power couple Bill and Melinda Gates call it quits and will divorce.

“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” Bill and Melinda Gates announced through a statement on Twitter.

Divorce of the 1%

Divorce happens, and it is a painful decision for the couple and their children when it does. It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor. The pain is the same.

But when the 1% go through a divorce, it is public. We have seen it happen with Jeff Bezo and MacKenzie Scott and to Brad and Angelina.

This morning Melinda French Gates opened up to CBS anchor Gayle King, and in her interview, she answered the most difficult questions about her divorce.

“It wasn’t one moment or one specific thing that happened. There just came a point in time where there was enough there that I realized it just wasn’t healthy. I couldn’t trust what we had.”

One of the things that bothered her was Bill's association with Jeff Epstein. Bill Gates continues to be sorry and calls it an error in judgment.

If you based it on this interview, Bill was a guest at Epstein's mansion a few times because Melinda herself met Epstein because she wanted to see the man who she claimed to have given her nightmares, a man she calls 'evil personified.'

“I regretted it from the second I stepped in the door. He was abhorrent. He was evil personified. I had nightmares about it afterwards. So, you know, my heart breaks for these young women, because that’s how I felt, and here I’m an older woman. My god, I feel terrible for those young women. It was awful,” — Melinda

Bill, who was once the wealthiest person on the planet, remains a puzzle, and he said in past interviews that the only reason he met Epstein was to gather more funds for charity. Nevertheless, it was clear that there was more to the story than we will ever know.

Even Melinda said in the interview that there are questions that only Bill can answer for himself.

With Epstein dead, his secrets are buried with him.

Melinda French Gates dating?

Melinda Gates is slowly moving forward. She even said she is 'dipping her toe in that water a little bit when King asks if she is open to falling in love again or dating.

She remains excited about her philanthropy, and she continues to have a working relationship with Bill. She calls their relationship 'friendly,' but she can't call him a friend yet. However, she isn't closing that possibility.

Divorce

Divorce is painful, no doubt about it. Melinda candidly shared that there were times when she found herself crying, lying on the floor, and was angry.

“I gave every single piece of myself to this marriage. I was committed to this marriage on the day we got engaged and until the day I got out of it … but I also think society used to put things on women like it was our fault,” she said. “I did nothing wrong so I hold my head high.” — Melinda

It is a process, even for the 1%.
