You have a more subtle sense of humor than this guy. So I can see why so many comments were dead serious, either saying “you go, girl, I don’t need no damn advice” or “Would you walk into a Wendy’s, look around at all the people eating hamburgers, then announce that you hate hamburgers?”
People jumped on this rorschach test of a post with the wild-eyed fury of a chihuahua attacking a piece of pizza.
Unless you really were serious, in which case I will need to meditate over how to word a scathing response titled “Dear people who write self-help guides, people who write that they hate self-help guides, and people who recommend either of the above.”
