ExxonMobil, Other Eco-Terrorists, Accelerate Threats to Life on Earth

The most important news stories on the planet are never properly reported.

Most of the 15,000 climate scientists on the planet, including those who work for ExxonMobil, based on solid evidence report that drastic and deadly environmental damage is inevitable and can only be limited by a speedy and sharp reduction in the use of fossil fuels.

Despite this, ExxonMobil and a coterie of other giant fossil fuel companies continue to produce and sell their deadly products. They are supported and protected by politicians and media and others — some of whom are paid for their support.

If these efforts are not stopped and, indeed, reversed then billions will suffer and/or die unnecessarily. Even though this is a threat that meets or exceeds the severity of World War II or 9/11, it receives tepid and ambiguous coverage, unlike the coverage of those earlier situations.

The Arrogance of Power

Recent developments suggest that events have reached a climax or a pivot point. Deadly effects of environmental destruction are becoming increasingly frequent, deadly and difficult to avoid. In the last year, New York City (and Wall Street) was blanketed in toxic orange smoke from gigantic Canadian wildfires. Big swaths of the United States have been plagued by record heatwaves, mudslides, floods, droughts and shortages.

Yet media and politicians seem to live in an imaginary world where there is no emergency. They minimize not only the current problems, but try to divert attention from the fact that we are headed to a feedback loop which will ultimately leave the Earth as uninhabitable as Venus.

There is no credible mitigation or adaptation strategy for living on Venus.

Clearly, the leaders and systems that are speeding all of us to unnecessary doom are suffering from some kind on mental illness. Because to destroy the planet we all live on is not the way a sane person (or system) would behave.

The Vulnerability of Power

Buffeted by reality, the formerly all-powerful authorities everywhere will soon realize that they have bitten off more than they can chew. Reality bites and it bites hard.

The ridiculed, abused and vilified climate activists will be vindicated — more than vindicated — and an unrelenting spotlight will shine on the actual eco-terrorists which are, of course, fossil fuel companies and their protectors/enablers.

When people go hungry, when homes are washed away, when thousands or more die from wet bulb conditions, they won’t be complaining about soup spilled on the protective glass covering a painting in a museum. They’ll know exactly who’s responsible. They’ll look at their children, understand the threat, and work to end it.

They’ll end it in the most effective way possible, refusing to cooperate, refusing to do the dirty deadly work of the planet-destroyers. They won’t be willing to earn a living by destroying their children’s planet.

We’ll work together, take care of each other and let the oil stay in the ground. We’ll close down ExxonMobil, Shell, BP and the rest. And, instead of wasting time and energy on revenge against people who were simply dangerous fools, we’ll move on to supporting the effort to stabilize the climate. And we will build a better civilization, burying the greed and selfishness and utter stupidity of the civilization we will replace.

Dictators and plutocrats are weak because they threaten everyone’s children and nearly everyone loves their children. How much money would it take for you to kill your children? Or guarantee them a life of struggle and suffering and probably early death?

If we do our job properly and tell the truth incessantly, our movement — The Saners — can and will win. Non-violent moral crusades, properly executed, have a much better record of success than violent revolutions. That’s simply a fact.

Only We Will Save Us. And We Will Save All of Us.

No business or politician will save us. Even if some wealthy or influential politician should try, that person will be working within a system resistant to change. The ways of despots and plutocrats will never be meaningfully reformed from within. They must be humbled and immobilized by non-cooperation. Have you ever seen a “leader” do his own work and do enough of it personally to matter? Never. WE do the work and if we refuse to mine, drill, refine, ship or burn then the fossil fuel stays in the ground. No guns or threats or lies can do the actual work.

Indeed, any attempts at suppression will further expose the impotence and moral bankruptcy of leaders to issue orders to destroy our planet.

What Are You Waiting For?

We have the movement. It’s still small, just over 300 signed up members (plus 1,800+ followers on Medium), but our potential is huge. We have a blueprint from other successful movements to guide us. We are motivated. We are ready and determined and we will recruit others, spread messages, and begin to cripple the forces of destruction.

Read about The Saners. Consider joining. And thanks for reading. How about telling a friend?
