We pump so much into our brains, that it can be difficult to discern the next right step because of all the noise around us. We're allowing that static to take up a significant portion of our headspace without realizing it.
When you need a mental break, go on your phone, tablet, or computer, stroll over to www.explore.org and look at over 94 live streams of nature and animals worldwide. Then, you can airplay (Bluetooth) them onto your bigger screen tv, and it's kind of like being there or being ringside in a Richard Attenborough documentary. Pretty cool!
You don't have to leave your comfy chair to visit the African Desert, watch a breathtaking waterfall, or see a mother monkey sleeping while holding her babies high above a river of hungry crocodiles.
We've been watching an hour or so each day for almost a year. We celebrated when the mommy lions had new babies, we fell in love with the fat little hippos sleeping on rocks, but the baby baboons were the heart stealers. We call all baby monkeys "Jeffrey," regardless of whether they have a tallywhacker or not.
We've taken the liberty of naming the python snake in the photo above as well; he is formally known as "Julius Squeezer!"
OUR MISSION
To champion the selfless acts of others, create a portal into the soul of humanity and inspire lifelong learning.
Explore.org is the world’s leading philanthropic live nature cam network and documentary film channel.
Beware! Plus a few things to know
It's real, and you may see some naturally occurring acts, wild animals eat wild animals, and sometimes you see it live. A person in the chat said the camera operator should have diverted the camera so she wasn't "exposed" to a deer being consumed by a crocodile. That's real — it happens.
It’s hard to watch sometimes.
I appreciate that it's real. For me, it's hard not to be able to help them, but it is nature in its most natural form that we have incredible access to because of technology.
If we could see each other's homes and homelands as necessary, authentic, and as important as ours, it would help spread humanity.
On the main page of Explore.org, scroll down to just beneath the cameras and you can see the dropdown menu for “Comments.” There you will also find the Community Guidelines and Community Discussions.
Next, is the “information” dropdown menu, which explains the area of Tembe Elephant Park with a map so you know where you’re looking in Africa.
Under the Weather dropdown menu, there is a sunrise, sunset, present time, and weather, along with a seven-day forecast for South Africa.
I almost forgot this part! It’s important to remember explore.org asks people not to take pics of the rhinos — poachers try to use the cameras to geolocate them.
Africam has a "paid" membership for $5.00 a month that allows you special access to "premium cameras" and supports the mission of Africam.
Key Message: The world is so overwhelming, sometimes a simple change of background noise can help us to find what’s important, sort our priorities and just find peace in the moment. I wish you peace for your day and your journey.
