Summary

The article emphasizes the importance of personal action and responsibility over expectations, hopes, and wishes in achieving life goals and happiness.

Abstract

The article "Expectations, Hopes and Wishes!" challenges the notion that life's fulfillment comes from external factors by advocating for personal action and choice. It suggests that true success and happiness are derived from within, through clear goal-setting, hard work, and taking responsibility for one's reactions to situations. The author encourages readers to focus on what they can control—such as their determination, attention, and energy—rather than relying on circumstances or external validation. By doing so, individuals can achieve their goals and maintain happiness regardless of external outcomes. The article encourages a mindset shift from dependency on external factors to self-reliance and proactive behavior.

Opinions

  • Expectations, hoping, and wishing are insufficient for achieving success; one must actively work towards their goals.
  • Clarity in goals is essential for achievement; without it, success is unlikely.
  • Happiness should not depend on achievements or external success but should be found within oneself.
  • Depending on external situations for happiness can lead to disappointment when things don't go as planned.
  • Individuals should take control of their lives by managing their responses to situations rather than blaming hereditary factors, planets, or sun signs.
  • By changing how we respond to situations and not relying on external factors for happiness, we can become stronger and more content.
  • Believing in one's efforts, rather than expecting favorable outcomes, fosters a sense of accomplishment and happiness.

Expectations, Hopes and Wishes!

“Life is not about expecting, hoping and wishing. It’s about doing, being and happening. It’s about the choices you just made and the ones you are about to make.”

Do you agree to this lines? Lets give it a thought, no expectations means no ambition, no hoping means we will not get anything and if there are no wishes there are no fulfillment. Some of us might think now that our whole life till date is based on these three words.

I expected to become “the designation you are today”, I hoped that I overcome every hurdles in my life, I wished to become successful.

Now rethink, the choices you made to reach your expectation, the hard-work you did to overcome the hurdles in life. You did not keep expecting, hoping and wishing to reach your goals. Rather, you have earned your goals by working for it.

There has to be a clarity in your goals. You will never achieve success if you are not clear enough what you want to achieve. You have to choose your goal and work hard for it. You have to, have a clear-cut idea about what you want to achieve and never think about the rewards.

Its your determination, attention and energy which reflects clearly how fast you achieve your goals in life.

Lets use the same equation in our way of living now. Whether it be good or bad, we are the sole reason of our life being the way it is today. If you want to be happy, where does your attention need to be in life? We rather than thinking about being happy start creating chaos in life. Lets make our lives simpler by cutting out the external factors for being happy in life.

My happiness doesn’t depend upon the achievements or success in life.

Expecting, Hoping and Wishing!!! These three things clearly indicates that we are depending on something (external things) to happen, to be happy. This means we are finding happiness outside. But happiness is about finding it within ourselves. When we depend on something which don’t turn up right we start getting sad. Things can’t be the way we want it to be, always.

Now a days, when we leave our home for somewhere, we expect to not face traffic on the road. Here we are depending on a situation again. If we face traffic, we get irritated. So, why to depend on a situation which is beyond our control. Rather, lets work on the situation by getting ready before the time and leaving. So that if though we face traffic we will still be on time.

Everyone of us doesn’t respond the same way in the situation given. Now, you might think, the way I am responding to a situation is my nature and you will have 1000 reasons to defend it. Some of us will blame on the nature being hereditary, some will say its normal to behave that way, some will even blame on our planets and sun sign. We as human never take faults on ourselves. We have been doing this since our childhood so now we think that these things are normal to happen in such a situation. But it was our choice to respond the way we did.

We can change our responses to the same situation in future by starting to choose things differently now on. Lets not depend on external factors for being happy and take responsibility for our deeds. This will make us more strong within and help us be happy in every situation.

We believe we will overcome every situation with flying colors. And by this we aren’t expecting the situation to be favorable always. Whether will we be successful or not, we will still be happy because we believed that we tried !!!
