Expect Great Things to Happen to You, Even in the Midst Of Trouble
This Life Hack Helps Me Enormously When I Feel Down or Struggle.
This hack is inspired by Mel Robbin’s great video on Manifestation.
If you also have these moments, when you feel down or when you just cannot take it any more. And you ask yourself
- how to continue when you feel hopeless, or
- how to carry on when you are struggling with a task
In these moments, take a deep breath and try these three steps:
- Disrupt
- Pivot
- Manifest something better and count yourself down to start again.
Try it, it is simple and highly effective self care. And it works for me, every time!
#1 Disrupt
Completely stop what you are doing at present and change the setting.
So, for example, get outside and go for a walk. (There are enormous benefits to walking just 15 mins — see here for the health benefits of walking.)
So just stop the present activity and change the location.
This can also mean going into another room, going somewhere else where you can be by yourself and take a break.
For me this different place is preferable somewhere in nature as I love meditation.
But it could also mean just going to a quiet space for 15 min where you can mediate, be on your own and get new motivation. I do this often by listening to some music (see here for some great motivation music).
#2 Pivot
Pivoting is one of the most powerful skills. It is the ability to change direction (and thereby quickly re-balancing your mind).
When you pivot, you take a fresh look at your life. You may need to rethink. You may also need to adjust.
Focus on a totally different activity that involves something else to think about.
Pivoting can also be also a key to success in any business. It is the ability to quickly change course in order to stay ahead.
#3 Expect great things and count yourself down to start again
Once you have completed whatever it was you had pivoted to, set yourself a concrete positive expectation what it is you expect to happen.
By expecting and envisioning great things we re-program our minds to positive energy.
The next step is important: the expectation has set your mind body and spirit to the vision — now you need to manifest it.
This means you need to set small goals and steps, that you can accomplish in a short amount of time, in order to get to that expectation. Don’t be afraid to take risks.
And before each small step that you decided to take , count yourself down to it. 3,2,1 — Go!
This gives you that motivational boost to just start and to not procrastinate — just like sports people do.
Manifesting helps us to bridge a vision into reality.
It helps us, like Mel Robbins put it nicely, “stop to stare at the big mountain” (the expectation) and start taking the little steps that it takes between now and standing on the top of the mountain.
