Expanding the Heart Space.
reflections on opening up to truth…. #WednesdayWisdom

“Peace is in the space where you let go, draw back, release…”
I’ve just finished a four day online meditation retreat, which has been liberating and refreshing. It’s given me a new sense of clarity and purpose to push forward.
Sometimes we are throwing so much at it — life — that we are not hitting the target, we’re missing by a mile because we have lost our direction and have no recollection of what the target really is.
We can improve this situation by taking a step back, taking a seat, closing our eyes, getting in touch with the breath and just staying there……. Releasing into it and gently, softly, patiently we wait and see what comes up.
I’ve learned a lot these past few days and one of the most helpful processes which I am going to try to work with is to tune in and ask my self a question. Then see what answers come up. There may be many or just one or maybe nothing at all. It’s all ok. Stay with it, reframing the question eg: How am I feeling? or: How do I feel about this or that situation/ event /person…?
When the heart becomes restricted for whatever reason, and there are plenty of possibilities at the moment, we lose the capacity to see clearly, that is to really understand and discern the truth. In trying to get to the root of what is causing our anxiety, discomfort or agitation it is better if we are opening up to the truth rather than chasing off after superficial, ego-protecting reactions.
When we take the time to stop, breathe and check in we can quieten all the hoo-ha going on around us and connect with our heart, our true guiding energy force, which speaks to us in a quiet subtle way. It’s much quieter than the voice of our ego-led ‘thinking’ mind which we struggle to quieten and which has got into the habit of thinking it knows best. It doesn’t. It can’t and shouldn’t be trusted.
Practice listening less to the noisy voice and more to the quiet one and see where that takes you.
May this teaching lead you to happiness; may it help you grow in truth. May you be freed from the suffering of birth and death.
