Why give your vote away?

Some people opted not to vote in the last election

Donald Trump has said many times that he was not supposed to win the election in 2016. People did not expect him to win, but he beat out a lot of well-qualified Republican candidates to become the nominee for his party. He was arguably the least qualified of any of them.

It was generally believed that the Democrats were happy that Trump became the Republican nominee because they did not think there was any way that he could win.

Trump surprised everyone except perhaps himself. Because he is a malignant narcissist (according to George Conway and others), he has a big ego.

A lot of Democrats thought the election was in the bag for Hillary Clinton. Perhaps because they were not totally in support of her (although they did not like Trump), they decided to sit out the election. Although Clinton won the popular vote, she lost the electoral college vote. People who decided not to vote likely gave Trump the election.

Although some people are totally either Republican or Democrat and will not sway from party lines, most people do not agree with EVERYTHING that their party espouses.

People are often willing to change political parties or to cross party lines in order to vote for a candidate of their choice. This is happening a lot with people who have expressed displeasure with Trump as their candidate for this election. Many Republicans (including former leaders within the administration and the party) have broken rank and endorsed Joe Biden.

Of course, this practice is getting under Trump’s skin. He has come out forcefully against them in Tweets and other comments. He does not allow people to speak against him without retaliation and reprimand. His bullying tactics are well known.

If you are a citizen of the United States, you have the sacred right to vote in the elections. This is a privilege which should not be taken lightly. It should be exercised at every election.

Don’t waste your vote by sitting it out. Make your vote count!!!
