Excuse Me While I Put Up My Christmas Tree
Why There Is No Place For Negativity on A Holiday Timeline
The date is November 8th.
I am putting up my Christmas tree, actually three.
Every year the decorations come out earlier and earlier.
This year is no exception.
My Halloween decor?
There was no intermingling of the two, the pumpkins and scary ghosts were taken down and put away on November 1st.
I know what a vast majority of the public may think…
It’s way too early.
What about Thanksgiving?
I used to be this judgemental person myself.
Until one day I spoke out loud about the house down the street with all their twinkling lights and cedar wreaths.
I shook my head and said, “Why??” This is just unacceptable.
Isn’t it way too early? A quote from me…
The person I was speaking with knew the owner of the home down the street.
It was his elderly grandmother.
He said “ My grandma finds so much joy and loves to remember the holidays of past times…”
He went on to explain that the family loves her joy for the holidays but is never certain if this will be her last, they put the decorations up early, so she can relish them.
This stopped my negative tune.
It also got me thinking about how much I enjoy the holidays.
As a child, I do not.
We had little money, my dad worked hard and usually was frustrated and angry.
As an adult, I made sure my son had a great time each year.
Each Christmas I took him to holiday lights, bought him an ornament each year, and put up a tree in his room.
He remembers all the Christmas traditions and now expresses his love for the holidays.
So why wait?
Wait until I am old and wonder if it’s my last to put up my Christmas decor early?
The holidays to me are about getting together, the music, the baking, the movies, and of course all the lights.
It is the most wonderful time of the year…
So why wait??
