Exciting Travel Goals For 2023

6 Travel Resolutions For The New Year

Authors Image- Looking ahead to 2023

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Out with the old and in with the new.

A time for setting goals and creating positive habits, whilst shedding ones that no longer serve us.

Just like most of the world, I am setting myself some goals for the New Year, but this year I have categorized the different kinds of goals I wish to accomplish.

I have set some travel-specific goals for 2023 and hope to achieve at least a good few of them throughout the year.

Here are 6 travel goals I have created for myself for 2023.

1. Staycations

The main reason I chose to live in Canada was the majestic nature.

From the moment I saw pictures in travel brochures of the mountains and lakes as a child, I was hooked.

The crazy thing is that nature here actually does look that beautiful in real life! They weren’t just well-edited pictures.

Due to some life circumstances, I haven’t been able to explore as much of Canada as I would have liked. But I plan to make the most of this beautiful country whilst I live here.

2. Challenge myself

I love a good hike, I have done some intense ones in the past, but lately, I have been steering clear of the really hard ones.

I want to push myself to do more intense hikes.

Maybe not the ridiculously hard ones that hiking experts embark on (I still have my limits!) but I want to gradually get to a point where I am tackling the more difficult hikes to challenge myself.

3. Short trips

Not all trips need to be long ones, and that is a mentality that I want to bring into the New Year.

I want to make the most of my weekends and try to do small weekend getaways whenever I can.

It's so invigorating to break up the week by spending the weekend elsewhere as it gives me a fresh perspective every time I return home and I know this will also do wonders for my creativity.

4. Solo trips

I love traveling with company and lately, I find I only ever travel this way, but sometimes I do miss solo travel.

I miss pushing myself out of my comfort zone and this was something traveling solo taught me to do. I want to reintroduce myself to meeting new people this way, and doing things alone.

In the New Year, I want to carve out some me-time trips and dip my toes back into the solo traveler life every now and then.

5. Time and variation in nature

Luckily I am in a place where nature is quite accessible and I want to make sure I never take this for granted.

I also want to make an extra effort to spend time in different kinds of nature.

I want to experience tropical islands again and explore deserts and salt flats, all things that are not a part of the nature I usually experience.

I plan to spend more time in nature as well as exploring different terrains.

6. Neighbouring countries

One of the perks of living in different countries is that there is always a different variety of surrounding countries to visit.

Countries that once seemed so out of reach are now accessible.

Living in Canada I am now closer to countries that were so distant to me before, and I want to make the most of them.

There are the United States, Hawaii, and South America, so many choices, it would be foolish to not take advantage of this!

I hope to maintain these travel goals over 2023 even if I dabble in them just a little bit.

Are there any travel-specific goals you are setting for the New Year?

I would love to hear your thoughts!
