Everything is an Illusion
The Dream World
Wednesday’s Prompt: What illusions must I dispel?

What if I told you everything you knew was a lie?
I was gonna write this piece on illusion using the above phrase as my guide. I recall hearing this phrase in one of my favorite movies, The Matrix. But to my surprise, this phrase never existed and was not uttered by Morpheus, a character played by Laurence Fishburne in the movie.
So, I guess I started out my own piece with a major delusion, or did I?. After following the white rabbit down its hole, I have come across the theory of The Mandela Effect, but this shit is so damn weird and damn near unexplainable. How is it possible that I can recite a line verbatim from one of my favorite movies, but that line supposedly never existed? Did I make that up in my mind?
It just further confirms that everything is an illusion, time, reality, space, and even this laptop that I am typing on. Am I even typing, this could all be in my mind? Morpheus must be correct, we have to be living in a simulation, right? In an exchange with Neo, a character played by Keanu Reeves, Morpheus explains:
MORPHEUS: “The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.”
NEO: “What truth?”
MORPHEUS: “That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage. Born into a prison that you cannot smell or taste or touch. A prison for your mind.”

This piece took a turn because it was interrupted by the simulation. Quite honestly, if everything is a simulation and reality is an illusion, then that confirms that I can create my own reality using the powers of my mind — ahhh, manifestation.
It also means that my reality will be different from your reality, which then confirms that our lives are shaped by our own paradigms. In the words of Mr. Wayne Dyer:
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”— Wayne Dyer
So, today let us all make the choice to change our realities using the power of our minds. After all, if I can alter my reality and you can alter yours, that means it is nothing but a controlled illusion.
𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘊. I don’t think I quite answered your prompt, or did I? I do not believe everything is an illusion, nature has to be real, right? But I do believe that we are living in a pre-determined world. And we have been programmed to make every day choices convinced that those choices give us our freedom. So, with that said, I am happily shedding a lot of my old programming and I will just continue to create my own reality; my only hope is that nature remains constant in it.
This was written in response to 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘊.’s Wednesday Prompt.
Thank you all for reading. And thank you 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘊. for creating the space so that we all can revisit stages in our lives, tell our stories, grow, and heal. KTHT has been a rollercoaster, one that I don’t mind riding.
