Everything happens for a reason

Even When You Don’t Know What It Is

If you spend your whole life wondering why you will miss the reason why.

I was walking through the woods one day on my way to my favorite fishing hole. I see lots of deer all the time. They are usually fairly tame in this area. Lots of human activity so they are not usually so skittish as in remote places.

This particular time I was attacked by a small doe. She snorted to make her presence known and then came towards me. I had my fishing rod as a weapon. Waved it in her direction a bit. She stopped just short of me. She Pawed at the ground and snorted in my direction. We stood there watching each other for a bit. For some reason, she was standing her ground.

I backed away slowly keeping my gaze in her direction. When I got a safe distance I turned and continued on my way.

That was weird. Never had that reaction from deer before. I continued on my way. Not many fish caught. That is why they call it fishing not catching.

When I was leaving I passed the spot where I had seen the deer. I was a bit more cautious and stealthy this time.

The doe was still there but this time I noticed the fawn with her.

While I stood there admiring the beauty of Mother Nature I realized the reason she was so aggressive. I had unknowingly come between her and her baby. She was in protective mode.

I could have stopped when I first encountered her and fought with her. I could have retreated back to the car and left. I chose to challenge with no intent to harm her and kept on my way.

On the way back I was rewarded with a scene of nature that I still remember today.

I could have spent time wondered why this happened but chose to keep going. The encounter did not stop me. I didn’t know the reason. It didn’t matter.

Sometimes we don’t know the reason why something happens. There is always a reason. If we get stuck searching for that reason we might not finish the journey. If we are meant to know the reason it might be revealed to us.

We use worms to catch fish. Don’t wonder why. Just catch fish.

Just knowing there was a reason is good enough.

Thanks for reading. You could have spent your time elsewhere but you choose to be here.
