Everything Fun WRITING PROMPT
Learning how to generate more fun

When I started Everything Fun, I was motivated to learn how to have more fun. I, like many others, had fallen into a fun slump. One day, I woke up thinking, where did my positive attitude and fun life go? I was determined to get my groove back.
I put a stand-up comedy stage in my living room, performing for cats and dogs every night. My husband used to join us, but then he grew tired of being the butt of all my jokes, so he left.
Just kidding. Had you going, huh?
Honestly, I have worked on increasing my fun, but not in that manner. I started a publication to talk about the subject with others, and it has been a blast. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the ideas and stories. And I’m incredibly grateful for all the fantastic people I’ve come to know along the way.
Fun means a LOT of different things — from laughing to running to meditating to having a family dinner. So, to better understand what it entails, I’m offering this writing prompt:
What is your philosophy of fun? In other words, how do you approach experiences when you want to have fun? Is it within your control, or do you roll with the punches to see what happens? Hopefully, if you just roll with things, the punches are metaphoric because fun shouldn’t, except in rare circumstances, be painful — that is, unless you are laughing too hard and you inhale a tortilla chip that gets lodged in your throat. Ouch! Not much fun!
Please ponder the above questions and share your pathways to fun! We are accepting articles about this prompt for the remainder of March. Don’t be late because we will make fun of your procrastination skills and we will put you on double-secret probation (as soon as we figure out what that means). You do not need to indicate that your article is part of the prompt. We can figure that much out on our own.
If you want to be a writer for Everything Fun, please let us know in the response column of this article or via [email protected]. Please send your Medium handle (e.g., @holliepetit).

Still, it gets the word out about your writing, leading to referred members and more fans.
Before I go, I’d like to send a big blast of appreciation out to Jenna Shannon for becoming an editor for Everything Fun. Jenna is a nutritionist who is uber healthy and gorgeous. She’s been writing about health for Everything Fun, which is excellent (yes, I mean that in a Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure sort of way) because we can’t have fun if we don’t feel good. Thank you, Jenna!
Also, thank you to Spyder Darling for offering constructive feedback about this article and other things related to Everything Fun. You have been so kind, insightful, and motivating!
Go forth and have fun! Then write about it and send it to us.
