Everything Fun Submission Guidelines

NOTICE: As of March 15, 2023, Everything Fun will be closing.
What this publication publishes:
Everything Fun is a place for anything related to fun: festive stories, humorous expressions, creative tangents, pick-me-up poems, and other shenanigans that make us feel good. This mission is to help readers smile, laugh, and enjoy life a bit more. Nonfiction, fiction, instructional, philosophical, and any other category is acceptable.
How to submit articles:
1) You can get added as a writer by leaving a note to this article (“Add me as a writer”) or emailing one of us editors at [email protected] (for me) or [email protected] (for Toni Greathouse). Please be sure to send your Medium handle. For example, mine is @holliepetit.
2) Once you are added as a writer, start writing. When you submit your article, add it to the publication “Everything Fun.” If you are new to Medium, here is how you create a story: https://help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/214874698. If you would like to add your article to this (or another) publication, follow these directions: https://help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/213904978
Some minor rules:
1) Please adhere to Medium’s Distribution Standards, available through this link.
2) Your story must have a title and preferably a subtitle. Consider verifying the quality of your title through sites like Sharethrough (https://headlines.sharethrough.com/), Coschedule (https://headlines.coschedule.com/headlines), or another similar service.
3) Your story must have a photo. Please give proper credit to the photographer under the image. Some sites that offer free use of photos include unsplash.com, pixabay.com, pexels.com, gratisography.com, and publicdomainarchive.com. If you use a photo you took, please credit yourself at the bottom of the image. We will not accept photos taken by authors that include any person other than the author in it for legal reasons. However, pets can be included.
4) Articles should be adequately proofread and have no grammatical errors. Consider using Grammarly or a similar service to check the accuracy of your submission. If your article needs work, we will respond via private notes. Be sure to have the link to private notes turned on so we can respond to you.
5) If you use any sources for your material (i.e., quotes, paraphrased material, etc.), be sure to cite them — preferably through a link to the article, book, site, or whatever source you use. If you prefer to provide complete references at the end of your article, that is acceptable.
6) While fun and humor can push the boundaries of social norms, which can be beneficial, we will accept no articles based on hate, bashing, or meanness. No exceptions!
7) Before submitting your article, please include up to 5 topics (formerly known as “tags”) for each article you submit. https://help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/214741038
Review process:
We strive to have a quick turnaround time (1–2 days at most), but it may take longer — especially over weekends.
If your article is chosen for publication, please share your ideas with other Medium readers. If you are willing (no obligation), share your stories with nonmembers via a Friend Link: https://help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006543813. Please note that you will not earn money from nonmembers reading your articles, but it can increase your reads and claps — both of which can help to bolster your writing credibility.
Also, writers thrive when we have the support of other writers, so please follow this publication and its writers through reads, claps, and comments.
If you have any questions, concerns, feedback, or ideas, please contact me at [email protected] or Toni Greathouse at [email protected].
