Everything You Need To Know About Apple Vision Pro
Today, Apple will release their revolutionary and innovative product, Vision Pro. What will this AR and VR headset entail for Apple’s future?
Apple will release their revolutionary new Vision Pro product on February 2nd. This innovative product will mark another moment in Apple’s history of innovation after two years since the release of the Apple Watch Ultra in September 2022. The Vision Pro headset supports both augmented reality and virtual reality.
The Apple Company begins its introduction to the Apple Vision Pro AR/VR headset with:
“Welcome to the era of spatial computing.”
It’s clear that Apple is serious about Vision Pro and considers it the key to the universe of spatial computing that humans will explore in the future.
In case you don’t already know, the Apple Vision Pro headset is an AR and VR spatial computing headset.
There have been countless movies about humans using virtual reality headsets that change their environment to become a whole new world that they can explore anytime they have an AR/VR headset on. Apple wants to make this futuristic marvel a reality through Apple Vision Pro.
Like other VR headsets that are mainly for playing video games, the Apple Vision Pro is great for playing video games, but it can do much more than just gaming. The only issue that Apple Vision Pro users (who enjoy playing video games) will have with the headset is that it doesn’t come with a controller; however, users can connect any gaming controller to Apple Vision Pro and play games with as large of a digital monitor as they wish.
Spatial computing is the way that the Apple Company wants to achieve this goal. By making it possible for humans to interact with computers using only their body (hands, eyes, and voice) instead of a mouse, keyboard, or computer screen. Spatial computing makes it possible for computers to display digital content in the physical world seamlessly.
For example, instead of reading this story through your phone or computer screen, you would be able to see it appear in front of you like a hologram that only shows up through Vision Pro. You could sit on your couch, and it would appear on your wall like a virtual TV without any bezels. The best part about interacting with digital content through Vision Pro is that users can resize the windows they have open to be as large or small as they want, and those windows can be moved anywhere they want in their surroundings.

Consumers are buying out the Apple Vision Pro
According to Min-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities who calculated an estimate of the number of sales that the Apple Vision Pro has received thus far for pre-orders, Kuo claims that Apple has already sold between 160,000 and 180,000 units only during the first pre-order weekend for the Apple Vision Pro. Based on Kuo’s estimate, Apple has already made up to $629,820,000 in revenue in one week of pre-orders.
Kuo also explained how the Apple Vision Pro sold out immediately after the pre-order was opened. At the time that Kuo published their story, the analyst stated that shipping times for all Vision Pro models were extending to 5–7 weeks within hours. The Apple Vision Pro preorder began on Friday, January 19th, 2024, at 5 a.m. PST.
I tested the pre-order myself online on January 30th, and the estimated shipping time that I saw for my test order was 3–4 weeks. While it is a slight improvement from the exceptionally long 5–7 weeks, it proves that the hype for Apple Vision Pro isn’t going away anytime soon, and if anything, the hype will likely peak on February 2nd, when Apple customers who love the niche Vision Pro product will swarm the Apple stores to get their hands on this incredible piece of new technology.
Apple Vision Pro has a broad range of uses
As mentioned previously, with Apple Vision Pro, users gain the ability to use their hands, eyes, and voice to navigate this new spatial computing headset technology that is Apple Vision Pro.

This means that working on a headset computer will be way more interactive and take up way less room than a desktop computer will. The Apple Vision Pro headset provides your digital monitors in front of you, and you can have as many monitors in as large or small of a size as your heart desires. Your keyboard and mouse also become digital as your eyes take on the role of the mouse, and your digital keyboard appears magically in front of you.
You can essentially create the ideal workspace you’ve always wanted to have by using Apple Vision Pro. This revolutionary spatial computing headset might completely change what humans use in the future, from desktop computers and laptops to spatial computing headsets that display everything your traditional computers could — only better, taking less space, and making everything more seamless and interactive.
Apple Vision Pro might even cause the entertainment industry to grow into an even more profitable industry because of how the headset can change your surroundings to be the perfect movie theater that you would want to watch movies, TV shows, and other content in. The content that you view can be sized to be as large as you want, if not larger than the projection screens that are used at movie theaters.

But that isn’t all the Apple Vision Pro can do. It can even make photos and videos immersive with its 3D camera that takes spatial photos and spatial videos in 3D for you to relive later when you look at them using your Vision Pro headset. Even the audio is spatial and sounds like it did when you were living in that moment in the past.
Apple also made FaceTime calls work especially well for Vision Pro by making the video tiles life-size (assumedly the size of a person’s head and torso, like in real life), and they expand into your room for each person who is in the FaceTime call.
Last but definitely not least, the Apple Vision Pro headset appeals to the perfect audience of wealthy travelers who all understand the problem of air travel being uncomfortable and being in an environment that isn’t very appealing to the eye. Apple Vision Pro solves this problem by allowing Apple Vision Pro users to completely transform their environment from a cramped plane to the middle of the air into a beautiful sunset with an amazing movie in front of them.
In other words, Apple Vision Pro allows its users to create the perfect place that they have only ever experienced before in their dreams.
What makes up the Apple Vision Pro
Next, you should know what the Apple Vision Pro headset is made out of. The front of the Apple Vision Pro headset is made of three-dimensionally formed laminated glass that is connected to an aluminum alloy frame that wraps around the user’s face.

The Apple Vision Pro headset comes with a light seal, which is the band that holds the Vision Pro headset behind your head. It flexes to mold to your face and head shape and provides a perfect size.
The dual loop band is another band that holds the Vision Pro headset, and as the name suggests, it has two bands, one on the back like the light seal and another band on the top of your head to distribute the weight of the Vision Pro evenly.
The Apple Vision Pro headset even has a fan and heatsink to dissipate heat from the powerful chips inside the headset.
What is inside the Apple Vision Pro box
The Apple Vision Pro box includes the headset with a Light Seal, a Light Seal Cushion, and a Solo Knit Band. Besides the headset, the box also provides an Apple Vision Pro cover, Apple Vision Pro battery, dual loop band, micro-fiber Apple Vision Pro polishing cloth, 1.5m USB-C charging cable, and a 30W USB-C power adapter.
In addition, the Apple Vision Pro box includes ZEISS Optical Inserts for users who typically need to use prescription glasses or contact lenses. ZEISS optical inserts in the Apple Vision Pro are an optional purchase.
The specifications for the Apple Vision Pro
Apple Vision Pro uses an external battery that supports up to 2 hours of “general use” and up to 2 and a half hours of video playback.
The Apple Vision Pro headset has speakers that are close to the user’s ears. These speakers deliver “spatial audio” while at the same time keeping you aware of sounds in your surroundings.

The two displays in the Apple Vision Pro headset show more pixels than a 4K (3,840x2,160) resolution TV to each eye. Additionally, Apple Vision Pro has multiple cameras for taking photos and videos, and it has sensors for tracking the user’s eye movement, hand movement, and voice. The headset supports refresh rates of 90Hz, 96Hz, and 100Hz.
Apple Vision Pro’s new R1 chip supports 12-millisecond photon-to-photon latency and 256GB/s memory bandwidth. Apple Vision Pro also uses the M2 chip, which has an 8-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, 16GB of unified memory, and a 16-core neural engine.
Apple’s Apple Vision Pro uses a feature called EyeSight that allows people to see your eyes through the headset when you’re not fully immersed in what you’re seeing through it. If you’re watching a movie or doing something else that involves full immersion, colors from the movie or task will show up in front of your eyes to others, so other people will know you’re occupied with what you’re seeing through the headset. EyeSight also reveals people when they approach the user while they’re immersed in the Apple Vision Pro headset.
Most important of all, the Apple Vision Pro AR/VR spatial computing headset weighs between 600 and 650 grams (1.3 lbs to 1.4 lbs, or 0.6kg to 0.65 kg), depending on the headband that you use. The battery pack weighs 353 grams (0.8 lbs, or 0.3kg). Apple Vision Pro headset users can continue using the headset while the battery is charging. Users typically put the Apple Vision Pro battery in their pocket when using the headset.
Apple Vision Pro is available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities.
Some of the major Apple apps that are built-in to Apple Vision Pro include, but aren’t limited to, the App Store, Mail, Messages, Safari, Apple Notes, Apple TV, and Apple Stocks.
The operating system that the Apple Vision Pro uses

Like any other technology that Apple has made (iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks), the Apple Vision Pro uses an operating system called VisionOS.
This OS (operating system) allows for Apple Vision Pro to display spatial experiences. The Digital Crown allows the user to control how immersed they are in an experience that is being displayed through the Apple Vision Pro headset.
Privacy and security concerns about the Apple Vision Pro headset
Apple claims that privacy and security are built into Apple Vision Pro through the many features that the headset has.
The Apple Vision Pro headset provides Optic ID as a security protection for users. Optic ID is used to authorize purchases on Apple Vision Pro and unlock passwords with the uniqueness of the user’s iris. Apple claims the Optic ID data is encrypted, never leaves the user’s device, and is only accessible to the Secure Enclave processor.
Secondly, the Apple Vision Pro headset doesn’t show any of the user’s surroundings to the apps that they use when spatial experiences are enabled. Instead, Apple claims that the data that the cameras and sensors process is only processed at the system level.
Lastly, none of the user’s eye input is shared with Apple, third-party apps, or websites. Apple claims that only “final selections” are shared when users tap their fingers together while using Apple Vision Pro.
How Apple Vision Pro will affect the Apple stock
If you’re wondering, “How will Apple Vision Pro affect the Apple stock?” You’ll be pleased to find out if you want to invest in Apple.
In the short term, Apple Vision Pro has already taken the internet by storm, with content creators rushing to upload videos of unboxing and testing the AVP headset. As previously mentioned, between 160,000 and 180,000 units have already been sold, and Apple Vision Pro hasn’t officially come out for regular purchase until today (February 2nd, 2024).
In the long term, Apple Vision Pro could grow into a massive success, depending on what VisionOS developers create for apps that can be used with the Apple Vision Pro headset. Any Apple Vision Pro apps that blow up in popularity will cause the sales of Apple Vision Pro to rise as well.
The success of Apple Vision Pro also depends quite heavily (pun intended) on how heavy the headset is. Apple is working on figuring out methods of making the Apple Vision Pro as light as possible while keeping it as powerful and comfortable as possible.
Most likely, over the long term (5–20 years), Apple’s Apple Vision Pro will bring immense growth to the Apple stock if it impresses the world as well as the iPhone did in the 2010s.
Just like how nowadays everyone has a smartphone, maybe decades from today everyone will have AVP spatial computing headsets. Assuming that the same happens for the Apple Vision Pro headset, the Apple Company will become even more profitable, and the Apple stock will grow to be an even more profitable stock for investors to own and sell.

Author’s Apple Vision Pro Remarks
Though I could be wrong, I think this augmented reality/virtual reality and spatial computing headset is a great idea, and I think it will pave the future of headsets just like Apple did with the iPhone for smartphones.
Since the Apple Vision Pro is quite expensive at $3,499, I believe that in the future, Apple will most definitely create an Apple Vision Air or a cheaper version of the AVP headset that will be more affordable for the masses to experience rather than only those who are wealthy enough to afford a $3,499 Apple Vision Pro headset.
Will I be purchasing an Apple Vision Pro headset? No. I love it and would purchase it if I didn’t have to go to college and buy a house first. However, after paying for more important things in my situation, such as college and a house, I will most definitely think about Apple Vision Pro more often and purchase it for the incredible experiences that it makes possible.
