Everyone is Responsible for the Violence and Hate
Everyone. Black. White. Gay. Straight. Male. Female. Young. Old.
“Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.”
— Isaac Asimov
Should I put a white male child on my post or a black female child?
It took me five minutes to decide.
It’s ridiculous.
We can’t even operate anymore without looking at the world through manufactured lenses of sex, color and race.
And this distracts us from the real issues.
We are a mean and violent society.
And we all contribute.
I just watched a violent online video of a student brutally assaulting another student in a school.
Your wondering was it black on white? White on black? Female? Male? US? Africa? Europe?
Yes. All of them.
I saw one video and then in searching on info about the school district where it happened, I saw videos of all the others.
The hate is coming from everywhere. It isn’t one group attacking another. It is violence everywhere.
And everyone thinks they are right and justified in their actions.
If it is a white person beating up a black person, the comments are about the history of white violence.
If it is a black person beating up a white person, the comments are about the violence in the black community.
I see hate speech from gay people, liberals, conservatives, old, young, Asian, immigrant, indigenous.
And on and on and on.
Then the justifications start from all sides because they feel the other side deserved it.
When I see any child getting hurt by anyone, it makes me angry and sad.
I can tell you right now, if we don’t move forward than we are sitting on the same situation as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict which is the most childish argument in the world.
Both sides say they were on the land first. Both sides justify their actions because the other side started it.
There is no winner. There will never be a winner.
It’s a deadlock.
And that is what we have in America.
And the world.
We — all of us — need to stop it.
There has been hurt and harm everywhere in the world for 10,000 years.
Africa was violent long before slavery. America was violent long before colonialism. Europe has been violent for thousands of years. Canadians are violent against their local people. The Middle East has been violent forever. Asia has been a war zone. South Americans have been killing each other as far as history records.
Russians. Germans. Israelis. Rwandans. Brazilians. Kenyans. British. Serbians. Costa Ricans. Indians. Sri Lankans. Chinese. Japanese. Indonesians. South Africa. Sweden. Nepal.
All violent histories.
Everyone. Everywhere.
It is easy to find blame because every group has been responsible at some point.
This doesn’t mean we ignore injustice and history. But we need to be aware when we are operating from a loving space or one of hate and resentment.
We can either keep fighting or stop.
Keep fighting and our children end up dead.
Your children. My children.
The person across the table from you is not a color or a race or a sex.
They are human. Period.
We are all the same.
Stop it.
Be kind.
